Trump and Putin: Syria ceasefire heads leaders' agenda US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to press for a ceasefire to halt the war in Syria. The two spoke by telephone for the first time since the US launched air strikes against Syria nearly a month ago, straining relations. White House and Kremlin statements suggested a productive conversation. Other topics discussed included North Korea and the timing of a future face-to-face meeting. I wondered how long before it took the two of them to kiss and make up. A more cynical person would theorize the distancing of bromance relationship, and their hand holding, was but a ploy, nay scripted, to relieve the pressure on Trump (how are those senate hearings going anyway) and Russian shenanigans. Mind you I am a little puzzled as to how exactly do you bomb a wrecked country of strategic rubble? Still, best to focus on this one and not kim pong headill trying to fill one of his ballistic bean cans with the naughty stuff -heh did you know he might actually cause a volcano eruption from all those underground blow the rabbits to fukery tests? If North Korea were to test something big enough, Bruce Bennett, a senior defense analyst at the Rand Corporation, worries the blast could set off an eruption at Mount Paektu, which the Chinese call Changbaishan, on the China-North Korea border. "That could be an absolutely huge eruption, kill thousands -- if not tens of thousands -- of Chinese and North Koreans. We don't know if a bigger nuclear explosion will set it off, but it is certainly possible," Bennett told CNN. "The Chinese for years have been worried that he's (Kim Jong Un) going to cause a volcano to erupt."
