Our society, from college students to congress, has really lost touch with how to bring about effective change.

You most certainly are. That is all you seem capable of posting is Zionist propaganda. Well that and the claim
that you don't provide sources because you are soooo smart and everyone else is too stoooooopid to understand.

In reply to Thompsonx,

In short, my point about raising son's who grow to the age required to register was pointing out - when/if the bodybag lotto is put into effect, I stand to lose. The price I pay, is the knot in my stomach every time I follow politics and see Tensions between countries escalating.

Being a generational Airforce brat, I won't dispute your comment about the Marine recruiters. [:D]

I can feel guilty AND lucky. The dichotomy of the complex mind and emotions is a weird and marvelous thing.

His dream was based on a young man's beliefs and desires. I will not call them a lie. They were his truth. You have yours, I respect that, but it doesn't change his truth at that point in his life. He doesn't regret it now. The four young men he was training with and grouped to leave with, two were killed, one lost a hand the other a leg.

Regarding God, it seems unlikely Devine intervention to save one boy and not his friends.

You don't know who I vote for, and options aren't always great either way. So whom would you suggest I vote for? Keeping in mind, I vote with as much knowledge and personal ethics as I can, given my options - not because someone online tells me who to vote for. No offense intended.

When in history has War taken place in America? Or North America?
I'm not an American apologist. Our history is as violent as most any countries.
Do I think War will come to America in my lifetime? I think it possible, but hope it to be improbable.

Teaching Discipline and respect ito children, is a parents responsibility. I agree. The military teaches a young adult the advanced course.

Also, buy new shoes.

I mentioned that there had been jarheads in my family since 1832.

Pretty much why this altar boy became an atheist...

I make it a point not to play in rigged poker games.

Revolutionary war, war of 1812, civil war, war against the native amerikans,
mexican amerikan war, two invasions of canada, spanish amerikan war.

No the military teaches you how to follow orders and how to kill people.

oh no comrades, fox news!

More than 100 students at the University of California, Santa Cruz took over an administration building on Tuesday, calling school officials to meet demands on changes at the campus.

The group African/Black Student Alliance organized the protest where about 150 students blockaded Kerr Hall about 1 p.m., KGO-TV reported. They chained the front door closed and barred other openings with furniture.

Good morning everyone! Things are great here at reclaimed Kerr Hall. #MeetABSADemands pic.twitter.com/PesmmkqDQ2
— Kadijah Means (@SpecialKay00) May 3, 2017

The protesters are pushing the administration to guarantee four-year housing at Rosa Parks African American Themed House, located at Stevenson College. The building is a housing option for students interested in "historical, present-day, and future experiences of predominately Black/African American peoples," according to the university's website.

The protesters also want the house painted red, green and black, and want the university to offer diversity competency training to incoming students, KGO-TV reported.

The protesters told school officials they would remain at Kerr Hall until their requests are met.

"We gave the chancellor a simple, very simple list of demands that will uplift and affirm the humanity of our black people, we will be here until our demands are met and we are not leaving until our demands are met," the group said in a statement to KGO-TV.

Scott Hernandez-Jason, a UC Santa Cruz spokesman, said in a statement to Fox News that the protest is peaceful and the chancellor is working with student groups to address their concerns.

"Our focus is on ensuring the safety of staff who work in the building and of the students who took over the building," Hernandez-Jason said in the statement.

"Chancellor George Blumenthal has been working with several student groups, including the African/Black Student Alliance and the Black Experience Team, over the past year to explore ways to effectively address some of their concerns. We’ve taken some steps forward, including hiring a recruitment specialist and a retention specialist, and continue to discuss how we can make sure that all students feel supported and have a sense of belonging."

The African/Black Student Alliance is said to be one of the largest and oldest student organization at UC Santa Cruz, the university website stated.

I don't see the "taking over of a building" as "peaceful."

forcibly remove them? have them arrested? expelled? allow them to continue?

Why is there racially segregated housing? That does not seem like it would promote diversity.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Student protesters take over UC Santa Cruz administration building (5/6/2017 6:03:48 AM)

Why is there segregated housing? I'm not sure it is. It is a themed housing that allows residents to experience predominantly Black/African American culture past, present and future ( not sure how they accomplish that.)

So, they may have a diverse segment of students in residence. Just a guess.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Student protesters take over UC Santa Cruz administration building (5/6/2017 1:35:23 PM)

My response to that is WTF? Why are they demanding to be segregated? This one, I don't get.

I get that young people go to College to broaden their minds and acquire progressive ideologies, but desegregation isn't progressive.

It is regressive, decades worth of progress toward civil rights being .... crap, I got nothing.

I'm an old white lady, I'd like to understand their reasoning and logic, maybe I'm missing something.

It shows that it's not about equality. They're doing exactly what segregationists in the south did.

It's racism. Even whites are being indoctrinated to hate whites in today's schools of "higher education"

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Student protesters take over UC Santa Cruz administration building (5/6/2017 2:51:06 PM)

It has to be more than that. I understand that profiling, racism and bigotry still exist. I understand standing up against it.
I don't understand demanding to BE segregated, when so many have fought and bled to have their civil rights acknowledged.

How can racism be eradicated, if people insist on thinking along the lines of Us vs Them, and demanding to be segregated?

I'll let you know how difficult it was, when I'm done researching.

In the meantime, those old shoes of yours probably need a good spit polish.

They get a daily brushing and a coat of 'snow seal'. I quit polishing brass and boots a long time ago.

I suspect what you may be missing is that reason and logic are merely conceptual constructs, valid only within the oppressive ideology that employs them to maintain its power.

I thought everybody knew that. [8D]

In a nutshell, it can't be eradicated. That's what's really sad about all this. Whenever you break a population down into different groups, you're setting the stage for discrimination.

Many of these protesters aren't about equality, but about it being their turn to benefit from racism.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Student protesters take over UC Santa Cruz administration building (5/7/2017 6:16:18 AM)

Oppressive ideology and benefiting from racism.

I do think that sums much of it up.

Also, continued acts of racism and profiling that help feed the oppressive ideology.
