Bernie Sander's vision for America:

Flames, fatality at Venezuela demo over leader's crisis maneuver

Caracas (AFP) - Venezuelan police fired tear gas and hooded protesters hurled Molotov cocktails as thousands rallied in anger at President Nicolas Maduro's plan to rewrite the constitution...

Flames erupted in the latest of more than a month of clashes that prosecutors say have killed 32 people in the oil-rich nation, stricken by food shortages.

Government forces used tear gas against demonstrators in las Mercedes, on Caracas' east end, the prosecutor's office said.

At least one protester caught fire and two opposition lawmakers were among various people injured, AFP reporters at the scene said.

But hey! At least they get free shit from the government

quote:

It was not clear if that person was the man who died.

"The (deceased) young man sustained serious neck trauma that sent him into shock and then heart failure," Gerardo Blyde, mayor of the capital's Baruta district, said without specifying what struck the victim.

Clashes broke out after riot police blocked demonstrators from advancing towards state institutions in central Caracas, where Maduro addressed a rally of thousands of his supporters.

The opposition accuses the elected president of maneuvering to strengthen his grip on power. He has for months been resisting calls for a vote on removing him from office as the country staggers under food shortages, a near-crippled state-run economy and one of the world's highest inflation rates.

- Clouds of tear gas -

Clouds of grey smoke from tear gas canisters filled the air as police with riot shields and trucks advanced along a major avenue in the east of the capital.

Protesters hurled stones and set fire to barricades. Officers fired tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon to push them back.

Protesters were enraged by the socialist president's launching of procedures by the electoral council to draw up a new constitution.

"I am convening a national constituent assembly of citizens with deep popular involvement so that our people... with their voice can decide the destiny of our homeland," he said in a speech at the council.

Private polls indicate that more than 70 percent of those interviewed do not support Maduro, who was elected in 2013 to succeed his late mentor Hugo Chavez.

I pretty much knew that the place would go to hell once Chavez died.

The US government didn't like him because he would not let the oil companies rake rthe ountry over the coals, but he was the best thing that ever happened to that country. Like Putin, the US government doesn't really like him because he operates in the best interest of his country, not ours or our oil companies, which really aren't ours anymore. Chavez used to go out among the People and listen to their gripes and bitches, have any idea how rare that is in today's world ?

The US staged a coup against Chavez years ago and the US installed government lasted a whole maybe 48 hours until the Citizens found Chavez, broke him out of CIA captivity and returned him to his rightful seat. The US also spent millions supporting his opponent in an election and lost. (and they got the balls to talk about Russia possibly influencing our election, that is alot of chutzpah)

Thing is, Venezuelans are not stupid. They know that there were no food shortages under Chavez because he knew how to handle the oil companies. This new guy is apparently bought and paid for. The oil in the ground didn't just dry up, it is just that the deal is being manipulated to the disadvantage of the country, and they know it.

There is no reason for a country with ample natural resources to have a food shortage except theft and/or market manipulation. In one country the oil companies lowered production to the starving point to keep the price up. That country nationalized the oil wells and threw the oil companies out on their ear and they are doing fine now. The Venezuelan government better get cracking on something like that soon because those people will not stand for much more shit. They are not like USians who will preach freedom yet let the government tell them what color of underwear to wear. They got balls down there.

That is why shit is burning, they'll burn the whole fucking country down if necessary. They live life, USians will never have that kind of balls because they have to get home and watch The Simpsons on their 4K LED TV screen. Not to mention they are 500 points up on the game on their cellphone.

Here, we live a distraction, not so there. Watch for more strife until that government straightens this shit out. Once people get started with this type of shit it is hard to stop them. especially when they have a valid point. Simply put : How come there were no food shortages under Chavez and how come there are now all the sudden ? Did the oil just disappear ?

See, unlike the US, many countries share the proceeds from natural resources with the People. Of course being USian we don't really grasp that. In one country you don't pay an electric bill;, you get a check from the electric company. I would of course guess that your personal usage is deducted from the amount, but we can't even conceive of such a thing. They poison your well water with their fracking and you get nothing. Alaskans get money from oil but it is the state government that forced that.

Venezuela really doesn't have much in the way of factories, and they don't export much food. Oil is their livelyhood. If I headed up that government, protecting oil profits would be the prime directive. But they apparently got a President now who pretty much works for the oil companies.

What happens next, time will tell. You can't keep a lid on shit like this for long. Just like those who say we should turn in our guns because we could never stand up to the government. Bullshit. Small countries where people do not have guns find a way to put pressure on an unresponsive government, the 200 million or so guns here are just an enhancement. Many countries have learne that a happy people is a productive people. A tax paying people. Putin got the hang of it. In the Soviet days people said "They pretend to pay us so we pretend to work". Sure they had productivity, but half of the product was defective. You can't run an economy that way.

Even China learned, there will not be another Tianemen Square type incident. There, a few years ago they were about to build a sewage treatment plant ad the People demonstrated against it, the government changed their plans. What happened to those Natives who were protesting that pipeline ? Bullets flew. Free country ? Not even close.

T^T

They are rioting because they are starving, not because they are living life

And the trouble started when Chavez nationalized so many things in venezuela, including the oil companies. So long as the capitalists ran things the people ate

Watched their Simpsons to their hearts content, with full bellies

Well his point is that sarcasm isn't reality, and hence is a problem for your claim, which consequently essentially ridicules itself.

Reality constantly escapes alt left radicals like you. You live in cartoonish delusions

People are rioting and dying in the streets, literally starving to death and otherwise doing without virtually every essential commodity you can name on account of the fact that they are living the Bernie Sanders dream

And all you losers can do is obsess over my wording because you are far too stupid to understand the over-the-top obvious sarcasm

Venezuela Is Starving

America’s richest country, Venezuela can no longer feed its people, hobbled by the nationalization of farms as well as price and currency controls

By Juan Forero

YARE, Venezuela— Jean Pierre Planchart, a year old, has the drawn face of an old man and a cry that is little more than a whimper. His ribs show through his skin. He weighs just 11 pounds.

His mother, Maria Planchart, tried to feed him what she could find combing through the trash—scraps of chicken or potato. She finally took him to a hospital in Caracas, where she prays a rice-milk concoction keeps her son alive.

“I watched him sleep and sleep, getting weaker, all the time losing weight,” said Ms. Planchart, 34 years old. “I never thought I’d see Venezuela like this.”

Her country was once Latin America’s richest, producing food for export. Venezuela now can’t grow enough to feed its own people in an economy hobbled by the nationalization of private farms, and price and currency controls....

How long has Sanders been ruling Venezuela?

I had no idea. I thought he was a Democratic Socialist, like, say, Denmark.

How's Denmark doing?

You mean the country of less than six million with a mono-culture. Yea that translates well to the rest of the world.

You know what, while you totally missed my point, it's also apparent from this post that you miss a lot of points. Show me where I've said anything like you just projected. Just because I express that you're, basically, an idiot, where does that translate to what you've just projected.

then the monoculture comment was hyperbole thrown in for dramatic deception, since you had no point.

I see.
