kkaliforniaa -> Fifty Shades (5/5/2017 3:59:10 AM)

Can someone explain why two months after the second movie was released we're already seeing trailers for the third movie.. Which isn't set to be released for another TEN months!!

*because they can isn't a good reason why they released the third trailer so soon! I really don't want to be subjected to those movies for the next year!! Nor do I want to cancel cable

WhoreMods -> RE: Fifty Shades (5/5/2017 4:40:30 AM)

They're worried that if they don't spend ten months showing people the trailers, everybody will have forgotten the film exists by the time it's released.
There's also the constant negative reinforcement thing that's an important part of maintaining an abusive relationship: the production company think that if they act like Christian, then the audience will act like Anastasia, and keep coming back for more...

kkaliforniaa -> RE: Fifty Shades (5/5/2017 5:25:38 AM)

To the first part, I need a hug!! To the second part, so it's kind of like any movie franchise or TV series. They'll keep making them until they've milked it for all they can?

angelikaJ -> RE: Fifty Shades (5/5/2017 9:11:25 AM)

Nope, there were 3 books so they have to promote the shit out of the third movie, esp since the second was generally panned.

There are four books if you count Christian story which i am reading now

Dear Christ, why? Are you a masochist?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Fifty Shades (5/5/2017 10:48:37 AM)

Was the second called 100 shades and they promote 150 shades?
According to the pantone color chart, there are only 47 shades.

Maybe the abusive asshat has a chip up his behind because he can't perceive colours and has eyes like a dog?

That's my thought. The first one made a good bit of money, right? How did/is the second one doing at the box office?

The second one doesn't have to do as well as the first, but if it does ok enough, there's still franchise potential there. Get the hype going about the third one now, while the second one is fresh and you'll (hopefully) grab the interest of the carry-over audience. Works for most trilogies because audiences that went to film one and film two are the most likely to go see film three.

I'm still in awe someone wasted the cost of a ticket to see either one of those movies. The books were bad enough. The parody have me a chuckle.

And I can't believe you read them [sm=rofl.gif]

I don't know. They didn't HAVE to make the second movie in the first place after people complained about how the books don't accurately portray BDSM.. Other examples of movies that didn't go further but could have include

"ended" with 2 movies
-Hellboy [a comic, thus technically could have been endless. It seemed like it was going places what with the two movies with Ron Perlman, and the animated movies]
-Amazing Spider-Man [with Andrew Garfield. Also a comic so technically endless. There were two movies so a third seemed logical. Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man had three movies. Christian Bale as Batman had three movies. Etc]
-National Treasure [rumor has it a script is in the works but Hollywood says that about everything.. Another Nicolas Cage series, Ghost Rider, not that I'd want a third after the second sucked]
-Kick-Ass [comic book related]
-28 [Days Later, Weeks Later. Months Later hasn't been completed]
-Ghostbusters [Back in the day there were these movies.. .. Ghostbusters [1984], Ghostbusters II [1989], there were talks of three but nothing came of it]
-Fantastic Four [with Jessica Alba.. Comic book related.. The cast was actually contracted for three movies.. The reboot "fared worse than its predecessors both critically and commercially."]
-Percy Jackson [book series]
-Lara Croft [video game series]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_series_with_two_entries

"ended" with 1 movie
-The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo [book series.. Instead of continuing the series with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara Hollyweird has decided to reboot the series with a new cast *shrug*]
-The Golden Compass [book series that ended with one movie]
-Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant [book series]
-Eragon [book series]
-Ender's Game [book series]
-John Carter
-Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World [book series]
-Lemony Snicket [with Jim Carrey.. book series]
-Stargate [with James Spader and Kurt Russell. "Despite “Resurgence” being Emmerich’s first official sequel, “Stargate” was initially conceived as part of a trilogy, Devlin says, “and because of what happened with the rights and changes at the studio and all kinds of strange things, we never got to do parts two and three."
http://variety.com/2016/film/spotlight/stargate-reboot-trilogy-roland-emmerich-dean-devlin-1201795494/]
.. .. .. ..

I do understand people "needing" to see the rest of something, I've done that as well.. But for something that has sparked controversy?!?! *shrug*

I'm a firm believer in giving any book a fighting chance but after the first one of this series I couldn't pick the others up. I think at the time I immersed myself in Christopher Moore for yet more comic relief.

kkaliforniaa -> RE: Fifty Shades (5/28/2017 10:10:32 PM)

.. a bit late but I'm reading an article and remembered the last comment.. So..

At least you weren't like the following
quote:

“The people who responded best were mom-types,” said Perreault. “They would tell Erica at the events that they had read the books five, six, seven, times—one woman in San Francisco said she had read them 73 times.” Women would cry, telling James how the story had changed their lives and gotten them through bouts of cancer or other personal hardships.

I'm most disturbed by the "gotten them through bouts of cancer or other personal hardships". Umm? Was it because if you could suffer through reading the books then you could get through anything?!.. Although reading something SEVENTY TIMES?! I don't think I do ANYTHING that many times [excluding eating, sleeping, bathroom, and bathing. Sex and exercise don't count because it's not the same EVERY time]

Greta75 -> RE: Fifty Shades (5/28/2017 11:00:42 PM)

I personally lose respect for men uses "fifty shades" to hit on you. It feels kinda patronising.
