ORIGINAL: klmpong Through out the bitchin and whining over "affordable health care", I have NOT heard ONE word concerning the actual cost of healthcare. All the dimwits want to argue about is how we can make the insurance companies richer, on the tax payers money. The health industry, which is a PFROFIT oriented industry, is the only field with no observable consumer protection. Walk into any hospital or health care provider and ask for a copy of their price list. They will only stare at you , if not threaten you with arrest for "harassment or trespassing", ( yes I have had both threatened against me ). To start with, a simple law requiring that they provide one allows the public to seek justification and comparative shop. Its called a competitive market place. I want to them to start justifying $19.50 for administering two aspirin along with all the outrageous charges they come up with. I could never understand that they expect people to give donations as if they were a non profit charity. That's like a gas station asking for donations for additional gas pumps. The drug companies as well are to blame. They love to quote "billions' in research for new drugs.., which I call bullshit on to be sure, all the while getting billions in research grants from again, the tax payer. When will people wake the hell up? We truly live in the age the bible refers to as "the great delusion"! We talked about that before. It's because there are all kinds of costs that have to be integrated into the cost of the actual drugs and staff. Operating costs, insurance costs, etc.
