Gotta love Berkley Breathed's unique sense of humor:

United on the block

That's pretty cute.
I thought he'd stopped doing Bloom Country when the Outland strip started?

steve dallas has a desire to inflict bodily harm on opus but he didn't get the chance to actually do it, so he sent him on an overbooked united airlines flight and is trusting the airline with do the job for him when they ask opus to vacate his seat, and he refuses.

its all a re-telling of the united airline story where they recently dragged a man off the plane and injured him in the process.

or maybe you missed the link?

He started redoing the Bloom County strip a little over a year ago, it seems that Outland did not give him "the ability to make pointed social commentary" that Bloom County did.

However, those of us who have always had a fondness for his work have a different theory, and have voiced it in comments on his facebook feed.

My personal theory (admittedly I came up with the theory while reading the work after he brought back Bloom County and it was fueled with copious amounts of that wonderful single malt substance distilled in Scotland while watching old 80's rock and roll videos and video performances of the Royal Scots Dragoons) that Bill and Opus escaped the confines of the pages of a bloom county book and Berk is now tied and locked in Binkley's anxiety closet and they are actually doing the strip.

Thank you.
That's as good a theory as any: just look at the abusive relationships Sherlock Holmes and Howard The Duck had with their creators.
I think he'd only been doing Outland for about six months when Bill and Opus began making cameos in that one...
(If he's been doing Bloom County again for a year, there might be a collection out soon, then. That's good to know.)

United does it again
