Labour 'would axe NHS parking charges'

Jeremy Corbyn has said Labour would provide free car parking at all NHS hospitals in England to end what he called a "tax on serious illness".

Mr Corbyn said the estimated £162m cost would be paid for by an increase in tax on private health insurance premiums.

The plan has the support of NHS unions.

But the Conservatives said Mr Corbyn "wouldn't be able to deliver it" - and the Lib Dems said Labour had voted with the Tories for a hard Brexit that would mean "less money for the NHS".

The Labour leader announced the plan during a visit to nursing students in Worcester.
He said hospital parking charges placed "an unfair and unnecessary burden on families, patients and NHS staff".

1. All parties could afford the £182 million
2. When did these charges start to come in and t that extent - tory scum party anyone
3. Investment under the tory scum party is always less, been proven to be less.

How much is it now Wickeds? roughly, an hour...overnight? week? just wondering.
That is a huge issue here, the cost of parking at a hospital in Toronto is ghastly.
The biggest expense in a hospital visit, inpatient, outpatient, visitor, etc.
Mind you any parking costs are a nightmare.

No idea...I think even some of Scotland charges for it
NHS hospitals break parking fees record

Shameful :( Another part of me wonders how much of the £200 million goes back into the NHS - I will wager you not even £50 million - drop in vast ocean

In 2013 the Tories sold off the state owned NHS blood plasma supplier, Plasma Resources UK (PRUK) to US private equity firm Bain Capital for £230 million.

It’s now been revealed that the US firm has sold on the NHS plasma supply company – now renamed Bio Products Laboratory – to Chinese state-owned firm Creat for £830 million.

Which means the hapless Tories have managed to cost the UK taxpayer £590 million – while at the same time ensuring essential supplies of plasma to UK patients are now in the hands of the Chinese government.

Examples like that are abound But I am sure they have just about run out of bits to sell.
