Hi, I've been busy since moving to Portland and haven't been as active on the Message Boards. I was being a little active in the Creative Writing area. I've been a member for a while. How does one get one's status changed? It's a little embarrassing seeing "Vanilla" by my name. Is that a commentary on my poetry or do I have to make so many posts to change my status?

It will change as you post more. Don't worry about it too much, the people here don't really notice what it says next to your name and it will change with time. And welcome to the boards [:)]

Thank you for your nice welcome and assurance. Do you play bagpipes? I play a pretty mean pennywhistle (among other woodwinds). My high school's mascot was the Scots and we had pipes in our band. We performed at Scottish clan gatherings in Dallas and Salado, TX.

I try to play my friend's bagpipes, although rather unsuccessfully [:D]. I play all kinds of woodwinds; flute, pic, clarinet, sax, but was never able to pick up the pipes. The uniform that I am wearing in that picture is our marching band uniform, I usually play the flute or pic in marching band (smaller instruments are easier to march with lol). Our school mascot is the Scots as well, small world. Our colors are black and gold (hence the McLeod tartan in the kilts and plaid).

You must know the story about the Clan McLeod. They are descended from a man and his fairy wife. She left him before he died because she was immortal and she couldn't bear seeing him age and die. She gave him a black flag that has been kept each clan leader.

I have never heard that story, we just use it because it matches out school colors. I think I have a new story for band camp............... (save the jokes please, I've heard them all)

Faustus the vanilla part of the side flag for Us is a name that Mods here give names to folks and you have to earn a name with your words in order to get that thing changed from vanilla. The little pics change as you post and the amount you post depends on what you have as a pic. We all have earned Our names here so to speak. I wont tell You what My name USE to be befor it became Hurricane. LOL Glad to see Your move was a success and welcome back Faustus.
