Conservative manifesto

Prime minister Theresa May has promised a "mainstream government that would deliver for mainstream Britain".

Launching the Conservative manifesto in Halifax, she said her government would work for everyone, not just the elite.

The manifesto promises to address the rising cost of social care in England and curb immigration.

No-one will have to sell their property to fund residential or home care, the cost would come from their estate - if worth at least £100,000.

Mrs May said: "We must take this opportunity to build a great meritocracy in Britain. It means making Britain a country that works, not for the privileged few, but for everyone."
She said there were five priorities: a strong economy, facing up to the consequences of Brexit and a changing world, tackling "enduring" social divisions, responding to the challenges of an ageing society and harnessing the power of fast-changing technology.

The manifesto also includes:
Balancing the budget by 2025
No increase in VAT

Increasing the national living wage to 60% of the median earnings by 2020

Increasing NHS spending by a minimum of £8bn in real terms over the next five years
A pledge that a referendum on Scottish independence cannot take place until the Brexit process is completed

Scrapping winter fuel payments to better-off pensioners - at the moment, all pensioners qualify for one-off payments of between £100 and £300 each winter

A reduction of the so-called "triple lock" on pensions to a "double lock" with the state pension to rise by the higher of average earnings or inflation - but to no longer go up by 2.5% if they are both lower than that

An extra £4bn on schools in England by 2022 - partly funded by an end to the current provision of free school lunches for all infant pupils in England

Scrapping the ban on setting up new grammar schools

Measures on immigration, including asking firms to pay more to hire migrant workers, who will in turn be asked to pay more to use the NHS

Mrs May was asked whether her plans spelled a move away from Conservative policies of recent years, and in particular those of Margaret Thatcher.
_______________

As I did the Labour manifesto a week or so ago it’s only fair I do the conservative one. I wont be doing the SNP one (no real point on here), or the lib dems whoever they are.

My thoughts on this one what a pile of privileged garbage for many reasons. I do however agree with Scrapping winter fuel payments to better-off pensioners .

labour 10/10
Conservative 0/10

From the key points they are now saying they will balance the deficit by 2025. They said in 2010 they would do that by 2015, then 2020 and then never and now its 2025.

In real terms spending on the NHS was savagely cut under this Tory scum government, as it was in all their governments, including the recent coalition, and thatcher etc - before then they were okay spend along the lines as all other parties and that's all I have to add I usually need a shower after reading their stuff.

Not as good as the labour one, is it?
I think the libdem one is pretty much promising to reintroduce some of the benefits that have been cut, setting up a rent to mortgage system to help people onto the property ladder, having a second Brexit referendum, and putting more money into the NHS, btw.

It is truly pathetic isn't it. There is something gravely wrong with humanity. The hypocrisy of it all. Same olde same olde - and not once has it worked - they are the party most likely to borrow and run up national debt and pay shag all off...Aint kidding..whilst invoking savage cuts on the poor, ill, children, vulnerable, and the dead now apparently they will have their "estate" raped after their death - well long as it isnt inheritance tax eh! They are a sickness. Fuked if I know what they do with all the money - tax breaks I think whilst throttling the life out of the economy and trying to plug their usual incompetence with savage cuts

Labours I truly thought was best I have ever seen in my life. costed and deliverableish, and yet he is labelled un-electable in England why is that?

Lib Dems I seem to remember something about a second BREXIT vote, but as you said the other day they committed political suicide. And do you know i really didn't actually mind that lot.

You know as well as I do the NHS stands on a precipice.

WickedsDesire -> RE: Conservative manifesto (5/18/2017 8:30:47 AM)

I agree I think she meant everyone in the elite. Its about control and fear as you know.

whats the elite anyway?
99%
95%
90%
>50%

I actually hate politics. But Christ look at what is going on across in America and i dont just mean that incompetent lying orange bastard running amok on their feeble brains - The almost complete majority of their politicians are corrupt, with their snouts in the trough, self interests, those of their fiends and business interests. They do not give a flying monkey fuk about " we the people"

And the thing is the UK is not far away from that chasm of no return. I will single out the Tory scum bag party - but we have shag all left to "sell" and be raped for money- save the NHS and that is just about to fall

Real0ne -> RE: Conservative manifesto (5/18/2017 8:36:48 AM)

you people hatched it and brought it over here, it was easy to hide till now with the internet, lots of money invested by corps, wont change any time soon.

In theory The UK stole it off Rome, and they stole it off the Hellenes(greeks), Greeks probably stole it too - from Babylonians or Egyptians - and before then fuked if I know, as things become lost in the mists of time. Probably fuking Jews according to you ;)

More a kind of democracy and law and disorder real0ne Not so much fuk a paupers corpse see how much money it spits out

Oxfam says wealth of richest 1% equal to other 99%

My source is better - note the richest 62 people are worth more than the poorest 50%

WickedsDesire -> RE: Conservative manifesto (5/19/2017 9:13:52 AM)

Better amend a bit as I clearly didn't look into the specifics

At the moment, households automatically receive a single payment, ranging from £100 to £300, each December if there is one person living there who has reached the qualifying age and who meets other criteria.

About 12.26 million people received the tax-free allowance in 2015-6, at a total cost of just over £2bn.
Under plans in the Conservative manifesto, eligibility would be related to income - although the party has not indicated what the threshold would be and who would qualify.

But Mr McDonnell told the BBC that the scale of the money that the Conservatives hoped to raise - which he said was in the region of £1.5bn each year - suggested all those who did not qualify for pension credit could lose their allowances, hitting millions of those on low and middle incomes.

And you wonder why i hate that party

WickedsDesire -> RE: Conservative manifesto (5/19/2017 9:24:57 AM)

They also haven't costed their Oliver Twist visionary manifesto
