alwayzron -> Better living through chemistry ..... (12/7/2004 8:35:27 PM)

Has anyone else on this board ever used viagra? I got a perscription for 25mg the other day by telling the doctor I have occasional e.d. problems. I play with ladies on occasion who like orgasm control. I'm thinking that viagra might give an added edge to this. Anyway ... I took one 30 minutes ago to see how it affects me. I've heard there are a few side effects.

BeachMystress -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/7/2004 8:53:58 PM)

You did WHAT? You're taking a non needed prescription medication because you think it might give you a sexual thrill? *shakes head* I find this to be a silly risk. While side effects are rare, they DO happen.

alwayzron -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/7/2004 8:57:11 PM)

Hmmm .... it does sound a little foolish, I guess. Of course, it's no different than taking anyother non-needed drugs (alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, marijuana, etc). I don't think it's fair to judge my motivation as being for a sexual 'thrill'. Don't we all do things to add elements of intensity to our play?

The side effects I've read of are feeling flush, a stuffy nose, headache, and blurring of blues and greens. None of these so far, but I am feeling a slight rush.

perverseangelic -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/7/2004 10:49:34 PM)

I haven't looked into this carefully, but a community I am in was asked about it. Someone cited studies which said it can do -serious- damage (read: ruptured penis).

Look up the risks, and decide if it's worth it.

There is a reason that prescription drugs require a prescription. We are going to ignore the marijuana since it is illegal and therefore not germane to our discussion. The effects of alcohol, tobacco and caffeine are well known upon the human body. Both alcohol and tobacco can cause death and carry warnings to that effect. The biggest problem with those drugs is cumulative or long term use. With a prescription drug, you can get not only the published side effects, but others as well. Side effects can show up with no warning and with short term use on a prescription drug.

Remember the whole thing with Vioxx? That drug - a non steroidal anti inflammatory- was introduced in 1999 and finally removed from the market THIS september. I was on Vioxx in 2000 for a total of 6 months. At the end of that time, my liver enzymes had hit three times normal. This was found during routine blood work. The culprit came back the Vioxx and luckily I was removed from it. Less than 3 months later, the news started to notice people were dropping dead with Vioxx as a common cause. Now in the news is another drug of the same class, This one called Bextra. Six weeks ago I was taken off of Bextra, which I'd been taking for a month, because my blood pressure was at stroke level. Another friend was taken off the same day I was for the same reason. Since then, I know three other people who have been removed from it with stroke causing high blood pressure. Do you know that the FDA has a notification about Viagra that says "In patients taking Viagra, several heart-related side effects have been reported, including heart attack, sudden death, irregular heart rhythm, stroke, chest pain, and increased blood pressure." Because a drug is on the market doesn't mean it is safe.

Prescription medication always carries a risk. It is used when the benefits of it outweigh the likely side effects. From what you've said, you're healthy and do not experience erectile dysfunction. Of course it is your choice to do what you with to your body. I just do not understand why a normally functioning man would want to take something like this. I'd be loath to play with a partner taking it without it being a medical necessity. If you do drop over dead from your erection, you may be assured I'll personally submit you for a Darwin Award. :-)

BeachMystress is correct and i do hope you follow her good advice. There have been many reports of serious side effects with the use of Viagra, including death. Not to mention priapismm which is an erection that does not go away and must be surgically drained. When this has to be done it is usually the last erection you will ever have. Something to think about....

as a fellow Californian, it is suprising that u are unaware that the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 decriminalized the use of marijuana to treat chronic pain, as long as one has a presciption from a doctor. thanks to Dennis Peron and the voters in the great state of California, an herbal, natural and non-toxic remedy for chronic pain sufferers has been made legal. it is sad that we are brainwashed into thinking the lastest "dope" from the pharmacy is all good just because the FDA and the federal government condones it, then a few months or years later come out with the truth and come out with a new "miracle", as the lawyers line up to file lawsuits and folks drop dead from the toxic side-effects.

alwayzron, have u looked into any homeopathic treatments that might add an edge without the risk?

darkinshadows -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/8/2004 8:55:01 AM)

As BeachMistress has said... It is a risk.

All the other products You have mentioned are available without prescription, so such a response is null and void.

Prescriptions are there for a reason. However, as You have stated, You did at least gain a prescription from your own doctor, so therefore I would believe He would have checked your blood pressure etc...

However, that horrible old word comes up again. Lie. You misled the doctor to gain something you wanted. I wonder if the 'ladies' you experiment with are aware?

Openess, truth, respect.
If You cannot do so to others, how can one be so to oneself?
If oneself is not, then how can one submit?

I am very aware that we voted marijuana legal for medical usage in 1996. I'm also aware that the California Supreme Court upheld & Strengthened Medical Cannabis Laws in a ruling on July 19, 2002. They unanimously held that the legal standard should be that defendants who wish to raise a medical marijuana defense need only "raise a reasonable doubt" that their use is medically valid. This major change shifts the burden of proof from the defendant (who used to have to prove their medical use was valid) to the state who now must prove (beyond a reasonable doubt) that the claimed medical use is invalid.

Over a dozen states now allow some provision for the medical use of cannabis, although only around 8 have effective protection (AK, CA, CO, HI, ME, NV, OR, WA). Even though these states have voted the use of marijuana legal with prescription, our Federal Government still holds to their position that marijuana has no medical uses and -often over the objections of local officials- will seize individuals' medical marijuana and shut down their suppliers. Nowhere was that effort more conspicuous than in the San Francisco Bay area, where the nation's medical marijuana movement was founded. A pair of patients in that area took it to the U.S. Supreme Court Nov. 29 of this year, trying to halt federal raids against medical cannabis patients and their caregivers. The ruling in this case is expected this summer.

I have lived with moderate chronic pain for the last four years. While I refuse to turn to marijuana for relief, I have paid attention the the legal circus surrounding it. It is still totally illegal in most states and the federal government holds that it is illegal in all states. Since it is illegal in the majority of areas, it was easier to write it off rather than to discuss it.

Wow !!! What a flood of response. I'm genuinely touched by everyone's concern. In retrospect, it was a silly thing to do. Of course, curiousity is my middle name ...... But thank you for the heartfelt replies.

The whole thing was a bust anyway .... I was unable to run faster, leap higher, or jump tall buildings with a single bound.

Didn't they tell you? That is the other viagra.. the one with a big red "S" on it. You can get the same effect by wearing a red cape and tights[:D] (ok, that last part is a lie.. just wanted to see you in tights. *innocent smile*)

alwayzron -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/8/2004 7:27:28 PM)

Well ... I do have a picture on my ALT.COM ad ... but I'm not wearing tights ... ; )

MistressDyna -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/8/2004 10:06:21 PM)

<<I took one 30 minutes ago to see how it affects me. I've heard there are a few side effects. >>

so at 9pm on the 7th, an hour after you took it, you were...?

What was the result?

Mistress Dyna

alwayzron -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/9/2004 5:51:12 AM)

Mistress Dyna,

Unfortunately, the experiment was a bust. I didn't experience any of the side effects associated with the drug (flushing, headache, somewhat blurred vision) ... neither did I experience the rock hard erection that everyone reports (just my normal 9" wood --- joking!!!!) Seriously though ... nothing out of the ordinary - same girth, length, firmness and orgasm. Maybe they gave me a placebo?

It's funny .... in retrospect ... people post on this site about drinking pee and eating doody, and no thinks otherwise. But mention once that you're taking an unneeded drug prescribed by a doctor and everyone goes ape shit. <sighs>

dixiedumpling -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/9/2004 7:54:00 AM)

Why didn't you get the one that in the ad on TV they mumble through the part that it lasts for 36 hours? My friend and I both agree that our spouses better have SEVERAL women lined up if they ever that that!!!

drinking pee and eating doody are not toxic chemicals that can kill u once ingested. however, taking pharmaceutical drugs that have been "approved" by the FDA is a version of russian roulette--u could belong to that minority of the population that is allergic or will have a permanently damaging if not fatal reaction. if u are looking for results, why not try a homeopathic remedy? if u are not at all concerned with permanently damaging side effects and are looking for someone to sue, then by all means, try whatever the "good" doctor gives u.

liljoy -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/10/2004 7:42:43 AM)

in all fairness i don't think exspressing concern and educating one of risks would quailfy as going ape shit. Were it me getting those rsponses about something. i would be greatful ~shrugs~ just my opinion

chainedpoet -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/10/2004 8:17:26 AM)

I have circulatin problems and when my medical takes affect I will check into Levitra or Viagra or whatever the Doctor may suggest. It is a serious thing not haveing or being able to sustain an erection.I hope that the benefits will out weigh the risk.Sex after all is an important part of a healthy relationship.Sure the partner says its ok when the problems flare but the one who cant perform to their self epected levels suffers from depression and anxiety when called upon to perform.I would love to be able to Love my Mistress/mate without worry or guilt.Just my 2 cents worth.

sweet alwayzron...

When a person asks about such subjects, people always offer advice on health and safety...(suggest reading the threads on urine and scat)... which was only what people have done here as far as Angel can see... they offer concern and advice.
Angel can, however, say that (only for herself) when she replied, it was more about the 'misrepresentation of the truth' which put yourself at more risk than the honesty of asking a question about such a drug.

liljoy -> RE: Better living through chemistry ..... (12/10/2004 9:54:31 AM)

chainedpoet,
There is a HUGE difference between taking a medication ecause it is needed when it is needed and taking a medication just for kicks. Every medication has it's benifits and it's risks. As The Imperial Merc ;) suggested homeopathic methods carry less risks but if those do not work for you. Of course the benifits would outway the risks. i wish you the very best of luck.
