Things aint perfect in ol' Britain.

Yup, thats right folks.

While one particular individual is so quick to point out how terrible things are in "Americashire" he seems oblivious to some interesting developments in the UK...

For instance, for a country with restrictive gun laws, gun crime is up 42%!

quote:

Cressida Dick, who formally began work last week as the first female commissioner of the Metropolitan police, pledged to “bear down across the wide spectrum of violent crime”.

Latest figures for London showed gun crime was up 42% and knife crime rose 24%. “The figures worry me,” Dick told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.
source

Of course, 11 Londoners attacked with knives in 16 days does prove the argument that if one does not have a gun, one will find a way to do violent harm to someone else.

source

Now, I have to admit that I do get concerned when an American student takes a gun to school, but I have to ask a simple question....

How in the hell do British school kids smuggle axes into those schools?
source

Now the Brits did pass a two strike law concerning knife related crimes, but evidently did not think to figure out how to add more cops to enforce it.

But, back to my initial point, which begs the question:

How in the hell does a city in a country with very restrictive gun laws have a 42% increase in gun related crimes?

Its not like the US where there is a sporting goods shop in every town that carries guns, so where are they coming from?

Perhaps they are hopping across the pond, going to a walmart and buying them in the states and then hopping back across the pond to use them on fellow Brits?

There are growing concerns about how they could acquire instructions online on how to build a home-made gun, or even 3D-print a functioning pistol.

But what other alternative sources are criminals accessing in order to bypass strict laws ?

Deactivated firearms (real firearms that have been altered so they can no longer fire projectiles) and replica firearms (anything that has the appearance of a real firearm, but isn’t) can be bought legally without a firearms license. With minimal tools, space and skills, criminals can convert or reactivate these types of weapons to enable them to fire live ammunition.

An alarming example is the conversions carried out by Grant Wilkinson, who changed legally-bought replica MAC-10 machine guns in a garden shed using only a lathe, metal cutters and drill bits purchased on eBay. His conversions have been linked to nine killings including the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky, who was killed during an armed robbery in Bradford in 2005.

In 2013, Thomas Keatley was convicted of a number of firearm offences, including the manufacture of a fully improvised handgun in his garage workshop. Keatley had bought the majority of the items required online from the US and the UK, and had downloaded guides from the internet on how to make handguns and even automatic machine guns.

Also problematic are the many antique weapons, such as muskets or flintlock pistols from previous centuries, or even more recent early 20th-century weapons, which can be purchased without a firearms license.

In this hypothetical, all numbers are made up, and any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental....

If you have 2 shooting deaths a month, and the next month you get three, you've seen a 50% increase. 50% is a pretty large increase, but when you're talking about starting with 2, one more gun death isn't such a large number.

Because their gun crime rates are much lower than ours, so any increase isn't really going to be as impactful as the same increase here.

Except that we are talking about a country with restrictive gun laws where any increase is impossible (at least to the way some of them seem to present the situation.)

They claim that if the US were to eliminate private gun ownership or restrict it to being a near ban, gun crime would vanish.

At least one poster from the UK seems to be intent on connecting gun ownership with violent crime, and liberals seem to make the same connection.

Thus, the additional point about knife crimes being on the rise also is a valid counter point to the arguments.

But, even more importantly, no one has answered how ax's are smuggled into school to be confiscated as contraband!

I mean granted, the ax is one of the oldest weapons, and considering the large amount of viking blood in the average United Kingdom citizen's ancestry, it would make logical sense.

Yea, I am sure everybody can fire say 40 or 50 rounds in about 10 seconds or less with a 45 colt.

Real0ne -> RE: Trouble in paradise or.... (5/18/2017 9:32:43 PM)

doesnt take a whole lot of practice you know.

lets see he was 6 rounds in 1.27 seconds with his 6 shooter add about 1.5 seconds for reloading 9 reloads 12.7 + ~15, yer looking at about 30 seconds to run off 60 rounds with a 6 shooter.

If you are as good as munden you fire a couple rounds so fast with a six shooter it sounds almost like one shot.

Its still laughable at the british failure the board brits keep pushing out here.

mnottertail -> RE: Trouble in paradise or.... (5/18/2017 10:11:54 PM)

the rate of a trench broom is 600-725 rounds per minute. fuck off retard.

Nope, while some have mastered the skill, actually one, has mastered the skill, the simple truth is that it is not practical in a real world situation.

You know, kind of like every other mother fucking thing that real one posts.

Don't be an idiot, Jeff. Obviously no one is saying that (it "seems" to YOU -- internal bias).

Nor is perfection the standard: should we eliminate law enforcement since it doesn't stop all crime?

You better not be talking about me or I will give you a lesson in maths with a big stick

And, anyway I am a handsome Scottish jackal
Not one of those pathetic Englishire jackals ffs
technically i was only in London once and drove right through it

Your maths lesson is this for the "UK" gun carnage to equal your gun totting loonies carnage they would need to increase by 4 000% not 43%, and across all of the UK.

And I did not factor in death by suicide or death by 2 year olde kiddie accidentally decorating mums windscreen with her brain matter.
