Netanyahu’s package of goodwill gestures ahead of Trump’s visit to Israel includes retroactive approval of illegal Palestinian construction.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to cede territory under Israeli control in Judea and Samaria to the Palestinians as part of a package of goodwill gestures to the Palestinians ahead of US President Donald Trump’s arrival in Israel Monday.

Netanyahu’s cabinet on Sunday approved confidence-building measures ahead of Trump’s visit, including Palestinian construction in Area C, which is under full Israeli control as prescribed by the Oslo Peace Accords. The gestures also include the retroactive approval of massive illegal Palestinian building in the area.

The majority of ministers voted in favor of Netanyahu’s proposed measures; Minister of Education Naftali Bennett and Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked opposed the move. This is the first time Netanyahu has made such a gesture since 2009.

The package also includes economic concessions and the opening the Allenby border crossing from Israel to Jordan 24 hours a day, in order to ease the passage for Palestinians.

The gestures were reportedly made following a request by Trump...

The Palestinian leadership has yet to introduce any confidence-building measures and even refused Trump’s demand to cease paying salaries to imprisoned Palestinian terrorists and their families, saying the request was “crazy.” ~Source

Status: offline 		Thank you for the information. But what does a weakened Palestinian nation have to offer except surrender? Trump's demand that Palestine cease financial support for the families of men in Israeli prisons seems cruel. Let's not lose sight of the disruptive wall Israel has built through and around Palestinian villages and farms. The Palestinians are effectively living in a ghetto constructed by Israel.

It is part of the menu laid upon the presidential desk before he arrives in the oval office. It is an obligation however fruitless it has proven to be. I share your skepticism.

Status: offline 		It seems that wherever the adherents of different religions are in geographical contact with each other conflict will occur. I know there are wonderful exceptions within some nations but looking at the broad map of the world shows us lines of territorial demarcation that used to seem quite clear. I wonder if I can get an AMEN to that???

Anyway Is not Dome of the Rock a sacred site held in equal value by 3 opposing religions - and yet they behave there.

Hate all religion as you know but they can behave there at that sacred site.

But i have no answers, nor one suggestion, to this one, secular, tribal - till a decade or two ago the protestants and catholics were still killing each other over here. And to be clear i was a "catholic who married a protestant", a long time ag, or another human is how I saw that
