After jailing their Jakarta Christian Governor for encouraging Muslims to vote for him.

Gay sex is not illegal in most of Indonesia but it is in Aceh, the only province which exercises Islamic law.
It is the first time gay men have been caned under Sharia law in the province.

A large crowd of observers cheered as the caning took place. "Let this be a lesson to you," one of the men watching cried out. "Do it harder," another man yelled.
Earlier, an organiser warned the crowd not to attack the men, saying "they are also human".
The men were sentenced to 85 strokes but the number was reduced by two because they had spent two months in detention.

i wonder how many of that mob are "gay"

Dude, I don't want Muslim men to be able to marry prepuberscent babies and fuck them then divorce them in my country. And I don't want them to have 4 wives. But reality in my country is. We are a dot on a map. Indonesia and Malaysia are like gazillion times larger than us. There is a reason why we pander to Muslims and allow their 7th century religious practices in some ways. Because to survive as the Israel of SouthEast Asia. We have to. Also unlike Israel who actually are living in a country where they originated from. WE are essentially occupying a Muslim country. The Chinese took over democratically through fair elections, a Muslim country that initially the British took over not very democratically.

But if our Muslim President is gonna be a Female. AT LEAST we are gonna make a damn Muslim Female President! That's still sticking it into damn Islam face!

I am thinking of all the Islamic countries that would rather die than have a Muslim female for President. So quite a good compromise! If it gotta be Muslim, it BETTER be Female!

For the sake of that, I'd love to be able to tell an oppressed ninja suit wearing woman that it is possible for a ninja suit wearing woman to one day become chief justice judge as well as a President of a country. That it happened in my country. And our people empowered them to be there.

So what has Indonesian gay folks being caned gotta do with Singapore? You don't have sympathy for gay people in Indonesia, because of Singapore a totally different country with different rules and laws gonna have affirmative action to appoint a Female Muslim President?

I know Indonesia is not in Singapore.

But you raise horror at Islamic punishment in a neighbouring country.
But you applaud and support having an Islamic president just because "it is their turn".
You are inviting the same thing into your own country and not for democratic reasons.

So if that happens in Singapore, are you going to clap hands and sing praises to your undemocratic muslim president or will you still condemn the actions of a violent and anti-western ideology??
