ORIGINAL: CaptR Infoman: Carbon dioxide has one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms, and a molecular weight of 44 grams per mole ( a certain number of molecules). The oxygen in the air is actually O2, or molecular oxygen, with a molecular weight of 32. Hence, carbon dioxide has a higher density, or is heavier than oxygen. Looking at the Molecular mass is misleading because that is an observation in a vacuum. Carbon Dioxide is also a greenhouse gas and more readily absorbs thermal energy. Under the principles of thermal expansion - the CO2 will more quickly expand, and thus will become lighter then the surrounding atmosphere when exposed to any thermal energy source (like sun light). This is why - despite the fact that fire produces CO2 which is heavier then O2 you're breathing, the only breathable air in a house fire is close to the floor rather then up around the ceiling. So as i said - CO2 is lighter then O2 and those scrubbers are not going to reach the upper atmosphere where all that CO2 is kept... Man's contribution to atmospheric C02 starts at low altitude, so this invention starts there also. Thermal energy is an example of kinetic energy, as it is due to the motion of particles, with motion being the key. C02 changes light waves and absorbs IR and the difference going out from when light enters...is trapped by the atmosphere. There are 3 main CO2 bands of IR absorption at wavelengths 1388, 667, 2349 cm-1 (HITRAN) and these are already saturated at current levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. Infra Red measurements from space show that the atmosphere is opaque at these wavelengths. However at high levels in the atmosphere this is not no longer true and this is the only argument for the enhanced greenhouse warming by CO2. This machine aims to reduce C02 entering the atmosphere by 1% by 2025. It's a start. 1% lol We need to plant more trees. It's still several hundred million tons per year as just the increase from last year was 778 million tons or 2.3%. At almost 40 billion tons total per year, man is adding 2/3 more C02 to the atmosphere than [he] was as recently as 1990. So...it's a start. But yes, the whole world need to start planting more trees and let them mature and leave them there.
