ORIGINAL: BoscoX Oh no No one designated to save stoopid coastal people from the hurricanes And everybody knows how accurate NOAAs politically motivated, global warming hysteria hurricane season predictions have been... You know the drill Everybody keep hysterically panicking [sm=runaway.gif] Bosco, first, NOAA happens to be the people responsible for tracking hurricanes, storm systems that produce tornadoes and other weather related issues. They are also the group that pays for people that go out and risk their lives tracking storms that produce tornadoes to get as much information as possible to come up with better ways to predict which storms will and will not produce tornadoes and try to improve the science behind the warnings. Since I live in a part of the country which is often hit by tornadoes, I kind of like the fact the agency exists. And considering that there is now going to be a lot more offshore oil exploration and drilling, those crews might, just might, be interested in knowing if a hurricane is coming their way. You know, so they can shut down operations to keep things like oil spills, and the like from happening, and of course, getting killed on the rig itself when it is hit. So, why dont you go fuck yourself with a stick of dynamite? Do the world a favor. As for FEMA, one of two things needs to happen with that agency, 1) get people who actually know how to respond to major disasters in a timely manner (as someone reminded us, Katrina was a joke, it was five days before FEMA was actually able to do anything in New Orleans, and further south in the delta, as long as 20 days) or shut the agency down and come up with something better. Sorry, but FEMA is a joke of mismanagement and inability to actually function in a crisis.
