Funny thing, when you talk of global warming, climate change, acid rain and other issues, is that today, conservatives scream...

That's just in your clownish make-believe world

Here in reality we calmly point out the glaring issues we see with that particular false narrative

The screamers would be the alt left riotous mobs who seek to overturn the election results

(We voted, and you lost - get over it).

The interesting thing is that, a couple of generations ago, Conservatives were pro education and pro science.
Education meant that people were more likely to be gainfully employed and less likely to be on the streets criminally employed.
Science led to innovation.
Innovation led to new products.
New products led to more productivity.
More productivity led to higher profits for business and that led to Millionaires becoming Billionaires.

It seems that around 1980 or so, the Conservatives started becoming anti-science and more faith based.
They pulled money out of education because they discovered what various religions have known for millennia.
Ignorant people are easier to control.
Ignorant people are also less likely to challenge status quo as it pertains to the distribution of wealth in this nation.
The pie is only so big and the "old money families" don't want nouveau riches because that cuts into their part of the pie.

I'm sure that someone will now come and say "A rising tide raises all boats".
Anyone who says that has never seen a boat tied tightly to the dock at low tide.

It was the 'No Child Left Behind' thing that crushed the educational system in America.

On your idea that ignorant people are easier to control... it doesn't seem to be working quite that way.

I was a teacher well before "No child left behind" The educational system was already headed downhill.
Sorry but history disagrees with the propaganda that you have swallowed.
Proof that ignorant people are easier to control.
They voted for Trump didn't they?

The correct saying is, "A rising tide lifts all ships"

As I said before. It does NOT lift all.
Only the truly ignorant believe that pablum.

George Will: Trump has a 'dangerous disability'

Conservative Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist George F. Will joins Lawrence O'Donnell to discuss Donald Trump's "dangerous" inability "to think and speak clearly" and what Americans must do about it.

http://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/george-will-trump-has-a-dangerous-disability-936881731734

It is urgent for Americans to think and speak clearly about President Trump’s inability to do either. This seems to be not a mere disinclination but a disability. It is not merely the result of intellectual sloth but of an untrained mind bereft of information and married to stratospheric self-confidence.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/trump-has-a-dangerous-disability/2017/05/03/56ca6118-2f6b-11e7-9534-00e4656c22aa_story.html?utm_term=.1c0864805448

Lol, George Will has been writing, for years, that climate change is a socialist boondoggle to redistribute wealth.

Funny thing, when you talk of global warming, climate change, acid rain and other issues, is that today, conservatives scream that it is a hoax, pseudo science or as Donald Trump has claimed, a conspiracy dreamed up by the Chinese.

The problem is the Climate Change argument has stopped being a Scientific one and has since changed into a Political one.

Was it the left or the right who changed the argument into a political one?

Technically the Left changed the argument into a political one the instant Obama tweeted the '97% Consensus'...
NASA and NOAA cited it, and even the IPCC endorsed it as correct.

At that point - if you disagreed Global Warming you where a denialist... it completely destroyed any progressive or constructive debate into the subject. And yes - the 97% consensus is a lie.... Just think - when was the last time you've ever heard of any other major scientific theory being quantified solely based on the consensus of the scientific community?

Granted many politicians in the Right which held strong Anti-Obama sentiments quickly viciously denied climate change as a whole simply out of principle of adopting the polar opposite of Obama.

It is funny because the GOP is the Environmentalist Party with almost all major legislation which protects the environment being penned by Republicans. But ever since Obama's 97% line - they've been labeled as the 'Anti-Planet' party.

A bit of bunk there

"The right" had been opposing TV preacher Man Dog Bear Al Gore and his hysterical "End Of The World" preaching for some time before Johnny-Come-Lately Obama ever came on the scene, picked up preacher Gore's Jehovahs Witness 'end is near' mantle and ran with it

Nobody on the right was whining about global warming being a ridiculous invention invented by lefties to punish American business, then?
The neocon right were trotting out that line long before Al Gore made his film, never mind Obama's election.

While both of these argument existed, they did not make up the bulk of the discussion, and the debate wasn't entirely political at that point. Science was still used and differing opinions where allowed.

Around the 2008 Election - Obama campaigned on reducing oil/coal consumption and providing grants to alternative energy. McCain campaigned around a 'cap-and-trade' system to incentive clean air practices and looked to fund infrastructure to prepare for future environmental problems.

It was when the '97% consensus' came along in 2013 when the scientific component of the debate simply disappear.
No argument was allowed - disagreement was Denial.

This made it an entirely political debate.

What the fuck are you talking about, the subject is climate change and global warming, which regardless of how you want to forget it, the first things done to deal with it were done by fucking republicans, it has nothing to do with the fucking election you inbred redneck moron.

Management mindset wants definitive answers. Science mindset knows how malleable an issue with multiple variables can be and answers questions with "probably" and "if the theory is valid" acknowledgement of how complicated issues can be.

A manager mindset will label anything that does not show hard definitive answers with observable results as a "hoax" or "blowing smoke".

Global warming due to returning carbon that had been bound up in Earth's crust during the cretaceous epoch was well enough known that, in 1976, the calculation of the effect was a question on a freshman mid=term examination. In the cretaceous, rain forest conditions extended to the 45th parallel in many areas. If we keep using fossil fuels at the rate of increase we currently see; our great great grandchildren may see kudzu growing in Chicago and New York.

After a bit more research, I find that humanity may solve the problem through the evolutionary process of natural selection.

90% epidemiologists actually believe that the world will see another pandemic that will rival that of the Spanish Flu of 1918 in impact.

Now considering that we have effective treatments for flu viruses, we could see a world wide death toll of 165 million people, since flu runs about 2% mortality rate.

However, if the pandemic is something out of the SARS virus family, which has a 25% mortality rate, and a very high infection rate, we could see the world population cut by significantly just from the virus itself.

The further good news is that with the over stressed support services unable to cope, the incidental death rate (panic induced riots, looting, etc.) could take out half the current world population.

Figure another third from the after effects of the first two....

Factor it the fact that at least 3 of the known super volcanoes are technically over due for eruptions...

By the turn of the next century, the earth population could be that of the last quarter of the 19th century.

Besides, why should the conservatives worry about the planet anyway, they are very good at creating problems their grandchildren have to fix.
