Musicmystery -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/12/2017 12:21:08 PM)

Now "We're so sorry . . . Uncle Albert . . . " is gonna be running through my head the rest of the day.

Lucylastic -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/12/2017 12:22:23 PM)

Quite. You never hear all of this pissing and moaning about Donner parties or hockey teams, do you?

You don't hear much about it because it was a Muslim who slaughtered 49 gays a year ago today

Had it been a "white Christian terrorist" (whatever that is) who had massacred them, that's all you would be hearing about today

A different theory.

Maybe YOU aren't hearing much about it because you're not interacting with friends who are members of the LGBT community. Can you entertain this as a possibility?

Guess what's trending right now on Twitter.

The premise is "you" generally rather than a specific niche group

Of course it's a big deal among the gays... They as a groups should know what Sharia means to them better than anyone

Wasn't it a rugby team in the Andes?

LadyPact -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/12/2017 1:40:24 PM)

I'm actually not a part of that 'niche group'. Maybe I should start thinking of changing my avatar pic to just a sign that reads, "I am a het, cis gendered female." I must need something because, even though I say it a lot, at least some folks can't get it.

I do, however, know quite a few people in that niche group that I happen to care about. So far, I haven't heard a lot of them say, "oh, the Mooslems," as their main focus when worrying about hate crimes. A lot of what they experience as crimes against them come from good ol' boy, white, so-called Christians. (In case you've forgotten, a lot of the reason that some Christians say they hate gays is because they pull text straight from the bible to attempt to justify it.)

I guess the real easy way not to see something is to look away from it.

Musicmystery -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/12/2017 1:42:46 PM)

In this case, the appropriate "niche group" is human beings.

I give up. The thread is about me, and about white christian terrorist attacks, and about gays not caring about the pulse attack or shariah.

You win.

Have fun, I am out of it.

You made it about you by bullshitting in your OP.
When the messenger bullshits
the messenger should.....take responsibility for his bullshit.

WickedsDesire -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/13/2017 5:39:34 AM)

BBC covered that one too Boscox one year on, and also this one from the other day http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-40233702

Anyway killed 49 people and wounded 58 :(

Oh wait I remember the thread on here last year and some of us reckoned he was gay or bisexual. And I also reckoned he was really just another typical angry irate "terrorist" using religion as an excuse - or a catalyst, as is often the case nowadays.

Do you know hate, bigotry, alternative news & facts lies, are powerful weapons-perhaps the most powerful off all weapons?

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/13/2017 7:18:54 AM)

Those aren't people commemorating the attacker(s). They are people still mourning the loss and commemorating those killed en masses at one place. It isn't a political or religious statement, it is a community support statement.

WickedsDesire -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/13/2017 7:59:08 AM)

1. Humanity is my community

Lost me a little with that one not quite sure what you are saying?

WhoreMods -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/13/2017 8:07:03 AM)

At a guess, that whatever community or society you identify as a member of is just a subset of the much wider community formed by everybody else who's alive at the moment.
It could certainly be argued that most of the trouble in the world is caused by people who aren't having that notion...

WickedsDesire -> RE: 1 Year Pulse Nightclub Terror Attack Anniversary (6/13/2017 8:42:33 AM)

I would envisage there were plenty of people not in the LGBT community who were at that club was my partial point, overlooking this bit Do you know hate, bigotry, alternative news & facts lies, are powerful weapons-perhaps the most powerful off all weapons?

LGBT community - I dislike that term as i do Black and white - but lets save that for another thread

If you were genuinely interested in remembering the victims of the Pulse Nightclub massacre, you would have started a thread using that as the OP. But you didn't.

Instead you chose to use the opportunity to start a thread using the massacre to attack others* for their alleged failure to commemorate the massacre and (incredibly) to whinge about the attention focused on 'White Christian terrorists'.

You chose to hone in on a massacre committed by a Muslim and ignore all the other mass shootings carried out by nutjobs with guns or those same 'White Christian terrorists'. Amazingly, according to you there is some doubt about the identity/existence of 'White Christian terrorists' even though right wing terrorists have been responsible for more terrorist acts on US soil than any other group, according to the FBI.

You are blatantly and cynically using the anniversary of the massacre to 'score' political points. And have the unmitigated gall to sarcastically claim that: "The thread is about me, and about white christian terrorist attacks, and about gays not caring about the pulse attack or shariah." (post#50) This is utterly despicable, a new low from someone who has a monopoly on plumbing the depths of hypocrisy on these boards. But what else would one expect from someone who aids and abets the obscenity of Sharia law in Saudi Arabia?

Contemptible behaviour.

* One doesn't have to be Einstein to figure out your actual target was 'leftists' and others who object to your rampant Islamophobia.

It seems that the OP is centered on reporting being about WHO did the shooting and why there is less coverage a year later on this shooting because it was by a Muslim, then we see a picture of memorial items placed around the cite was shown.

We still commemorate 911 as a country, and other countries often mention ithe anniversary of 911 - but smaller acts of terror, it is the community that remembers (typically). And local communities that cover it.

I like your point, that humanity is your community, I agree on a large scale we are all a community - but as you narrow the lens and look closer, people group themselves into communities.

At any rate, I concede my point probably isn't germane to the topic.

Thank you and Lady Pact for reminding us all what this thread should have been about
