Sessions is due to testify before the Senate Intelligence committee at 230pm Eastern

What should we expect today.

Will they ask him, 84th Attorney General of the United States recused from the "witch hunt" "hoax" Russian Investigation, why he wrote a nice letter telling Trump to sack James Comey. Only for it to later transpire that Trump asked him to write the said letter - or he was going to sack him anyway - or something.

Didnt vote, I dont think that he will confess, I dont think he will give away anything.
Altho its public this morning, Im wondering how many times he will say he cant say anything in a public hearing. Or claim executive privilige. I dont see much of it coming out. Truth wise, however I am forever hopeful that he can tell some truth.
My interest in it mainly is how he handles questions about recusing himself and then reinserting himself.

mnottertail -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 5:44:53 AM)

He cannot claim personal executive privilege that has to be ordered by Il Douchovitch, Sessions hasnt any.

WickedsDesire -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 5:55:55 AM)

I forgot he can claim executive privilege which I know very little about and its scope as well as the not in open session waffle

He cant claim it for failing to disclose his Russian buddies or slush funds can he, and he was already caught out on those, and thatseemed willful and deceitful to me not an accident oversight;

Wouldn't that letter, which he should never have written in the first place, be deemed collusion and obstructionist- oh wait thats one of Trumps new buzz words obstruction? (yeh like I am a lawyer)

let me see what the gaurdian is saying https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jun/13/jeff-sessions-senate-testimony-russia-comey
What Sessions tells the committee could in turn affect the legal jeopardy of Donald Trump, who has also said he is willing to speak about his interactions with Comey under oath, although he did not indicate in what forum.

The attorney general - who failed to inform the Senate about his meetings with Russian officials in his confirmation hearings - will face particularly tough questioning from the senators over his apparent role in Comey’s dismissal.
One White House version of events said that Trump fired the FBI director on 9 May after concerns over his performance were raised by Sessions and his deputy, Rod Rosenstein. But Sessions had previously recused himself from matters connected to the Russia investigation, and Comey was overseeing that investigation.

Furthermore, Trump said in a television interview and in an Oval Office conversation with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador the day after Comey’s dismissal that the decision to fire him was linked to that investigation.

“Recommending Director Comey’s firing would seem to be a violation of his recusal, and Attorney General Sessions needs to answer for that,” the Democratic Senate leader, Chuck Schumer, said in a statement after Sessions’ Senate appearance was confirmed on Monday.

I reckon he will fuk it it up, well as long as he doesn't claim executive privilege every 2 lines

can you explain that a bit more you typed before I hit post

WhoreMods -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 6:01:13 AM)

Was there ever any follow up about the creature from the black latrine demanding campaign donations from outside of the 'States?
You know, like an investigation as to whether any of the foreigners he sent begging letters to, actually delivered funds in a manner which is against the FEC legislation?

WickedsDesire -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 6:12:31 AM)

I remember reading this one but totally forgot about it until you mentioned it.

US election: Trump's emails to British MPs cause uproar

Republican Donald Trump needs help paying for his US presidential campaign - and he's been asking foreign politicians to cough up.

His efforts appear to be generating more anger than interest, however - and even if he did find a receptive audience overseas, any financial assistance he receives would be a violation of US law. Even the act of asking could get the Trump camp a rebuke from the US government.

Members of parliament in the UK, Iceland, Canada and Australia have reported that they are being inundated on their official government emails accounts with fund-raising pleas from the Trump campaign - some from the candidate himself and others from his sons.

Couple months ago for his fairly tame NRA rally speech (one of the few speeches he hasnt totally fuked up or lied and lied) - the NRA had already paid-contributed $26 million dollars into his campaign funds

or you talking about jeff Sessions - hes been off the radar almost all year so i rarely see what shenanigans he has been up to or if any foreign entities donated to him/campaign? As i get a bit fixated on Tillersons $200 million Exxon shares - and Exxons ties to eg the Russians

See, what you don't get is that the US has become a banana republic. A wealthy one...but a banana republic. As such, the party in power investigates nothing they did, only what challenges to their authority are alleged to have done.

I agree banana republic is a great term, and it applies to BOTH parties.
The party in power, is always going to claim to be innocent.
These type of investigations will probably never end.

Such is the world we live in.
Every party lies to a certain point, we will never be told the truth about most issues.

MrRodgers -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 9:32:11 PM)

However, not to hijack but there are still many issues the repubs (right) address in their own rent-seeking, corruption-enabling way that the dems (left) will not do. To wit:

The right will or have.....

...deregulated investment banking setting up more potential fraud or over-leveraging.

...deregulate environmental laws where it is most important for their goals...allowing companies to dirty our air and water.

...rewrite healthcare from what was essentially just what the repubs themselves put forth in 1992 and what is...Romney care.

...tax reform which means tax cuts mainly for many of the richest people in the US (world) and pass what's called pass-through import taxes on many goods consumers buy which will slow the economy.

...raise taxes on the middle class by eliminating the 10% bracket (now to 15%) after increasing the standard exemptions.

...continue the immoral tax differential between ordinary income vs stock dividends, capital gains and carried interests.

...continue if not expand the offshoring of assets and profits to avoid US taxes.

There is a somewhat slight but visible, underlying political/moral equivalency between the two major parties but that do not extend to a few economic and tax policy similarities that can truly make a real difference in tax revenue and more properly reorganize tax and economic incentives.

Here's a very telling example of the difference between the parties. The repubs seek to eliminate what's called the 'estate tax' often dubbed the 'death tax' when it is in truth, an income tax on the heirs. The current Walton family fortune when passed on would be reduced some $52 billion, an amount equal and to the dollar, of the planned increase in military spending this fiscal year.

I am sure as we are discovering everyday in the US, the remaining $87 billion to the heirs if the tax remains, just...isn't enough. Saw a documentary on the 1% done by the grandson of the Johnson & Johnson fortune who had one respondent actually tell him, 'it's tough to get by on $50 million.' Hey, I can identify. [sic]

LTE -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 9:39:48 PM)

Well. Back on the subject. Turns out he did very well. Nobody can say he let anyone push him into saying something he did not want to say and he said what he wanted to say and almost sent one or two senators out to cut a "switch bush" for a whipping they deserved.

LTE -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 9:46:25 PM)

I just noticed how badly off that poll is. What a surprise.

Termyn8or -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 11:28:55 PM)

Wick, you are as illiterate as most Americans. The word you wanted is "fare".

I bet your ass doesn't know the difference between "jive" and "jibe" either, and I have caught major media outlets on that one. What, is the whole fucking world stupid now ?

And the intelligence level of "hooked on phonics" apparentlly is needed for liberalism. I really thought y'all in the UK were smarter than that but a few of you have taught me better. You are just as fucking stooooopid as we are.

But damn, I really thought you could spell better than that.

T^T

heavyblinker -> RE: How will Jeff Sessions fair today (6/13/2017 11:29:07 PM)

I know everyone is really anxious to see these people exposed, but given how they've been lying and covering everything up so far, there was really no reason to expect that Sessions would come clean now.
