Thanks i wasn't sure if you were making a joke - wonder why he voted for it. Maybe Tillerson got to him or they are best buds or something.

Will you not admit this is all Trump's fault? Lets just say...and hope... he is innocent. If so... why not, from the beginning, lead the investigation into Russian interference. If he had done that then this mess would have been long settled and he and Congress could be concentrating on governing.

To me there can only be two reasons he did not do this... First he and or his campaign group did join with Russia to influence the election... OR... He did not but is simply unfit for office. He is letting his ego come before the good of the country.

It is still not too late for redemption. All he has to do is cooperate with the investigations and demand that all involved come forward and testify to their interaction with Russia in the times in question. If mistakes were made hold up to them... If not then celebrate victory and rub it in the Democrats faces and move on with the country's business.

The republicans lost the ability to admit that it's even possible for a president with an "R" after his name to be at fault for anything when Ford pardoned Nixon.

That's what happens when there is no evidence. With Nixon, people ratted on him and he got convicted. So did Clinton. However in Nixon's case he thought it in his best interest to resign. He could have rode it out.

What's more, what even convicted Nixon were coerced confessions from people who said he ordered it or condoned it. Liddy never did that. Why ? All the ones who ratted out were given light sentences. However, the fact does remain that he probably engineered the job, with or without Nixon's good graces. And it is probably true that Nixon did at the very least condone it.

But they had devices and whatever. You know they had trained LASERs on some of the windows that would pick up conversations unobtainable anywhere else. That was directly traceable of course.

So there was real evidence. Nobody has shown any real evidence on this issue, just moire and more people saying this or that. Well in court that is hearsay. Like I said, the malicious code and how it got in and replaced part of the OS with itself. Only way to do it and only way to prove it. And don't gimme this top secret shit because if true the Russians already have it, the exact people we probably did not want to have it. (and they would reveal it just to spite us maybe, not sure but posssible) What would a soccer Mom do with the evidence if it is ever presented ? Probably show it to her 14 year old son to get decoded and he will tell her what it means.

So this is very simple, you claim to have evidence produce it. Produce it for OUR hackers and computer people to publicly discuss and decode and whatever and to determine the source.

Even if it really happened, you still have no idea if it was China or India or even what.

But I don't really care. They don't care about any sanctions. It is just a bunch of posturing. Enjoy the show, do you want that cheese shit on your popcorn or just butter and salt ?

Nixon didn't think it was in his best interests to resign. Several members of his party (including that Barry Goldwater you're so fond of) told him that if he didn't resign, then they'd volunteer to stand as witnesses because they felt that his two years or so of legal wrangling and evasions to avoid impeachment and ending up in court over the allegations were bringing their party into disrepute. Sadly, the damage was already done by then, and Nixon's whole "if the president does it then it can't be a crime" has since been adopted as republican ideology.

Neither was 'convicted' both were written bills of impeachment on, Nixon resigned before it passed the house, neither was convicted in the senate. Clinton 'rode it out' for two more years.

and then what WM said.

Well then the main question is if they have a veto proof congress.

Congress ratifies treaties, but does that power extend to this ? I think there is some doubt, but the fact is I am done reading the Constitution looking for things. Let the supreme court read it for a change.

"Don't blame me, I voted for Gary Johnson. "

You threw away a perfectly good Hillary vote ? No more democrat pussy for you.

Anyway, next is to see what the house of reps does on this. They have to be veto proof as well or it does nowhere.

And actually it doesn't matter, Russia is laughing at those sanctions.

T^T

A 97-2 vote suggests the likelihood that indeed they can find 2/3 to override a veto.

I'm surprised Rand Paul voted against it. That's not his style.

Well this is a measure added as an Amendment to a larger bill about Iran.

So could be a lot of reasons.
