Brussels Central Station has been evacuated after an explosion, with Belgian police saying the situation is under control. A person wearing an explosive belt was "neutralised" inside the station, reports say. The city's main square, the Grand Place, was also evacuated. In March 2016, 32 people died in attacks on Brussels airport and the metro system which were claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group. Soldiers guarding the station neutralised one person inside the station after a small explosion and there are no other casualties, Reuters news agency reports. Brussels Central Station is one of three main terminals in the city. Whats a suicide vest anyway?

Suicide vest = a vest or shirt loaded with explosives. These days, I tend to think, 'Yeah, right'. The story going around is that IS no longer trains agents to enter a country and cause destruction. Instead, it contacts people already living in a given country, feeds up their ideological awareness and fervour, gives advice on weapons and tactics, then gives them the order. But that story has itself has changed: it just posts info on websites and 'creates soldiers' that way. Nah. My guess is that IS claims a given terrorist act was by 'one of its soldiers', having taken a guess that the relevant terrorist has looked at an IS website at some point before doing his loathsome deed. That's it. IS are now a bunch of washed-up wankers, jumping up and down like toddlers having a tantrum, demanding attention.

It wasn't a suicide vest, it was a bag/suitcase with explosives. The dude tried to run after setting it off, but was stopped and shot down by soldiers. This wasn't a suicide-terrorism attempt, as he had no intention of dying.

Yeah, and according to the Belgian newspapers I'm following, the BBC is wrong. It's confirmed that that the explosion came from a suitcase. There's an supposed eyewitness who claims to have seen a suicide belt, but this hasn't been confirmed by the cops. What is confirmed is that a small explosion occurred from a suitcase bomb of the trolley (rolling) type, after which the suspect attempted to run, and was shot down and stopped by soldiers. The suspect has been confirmed to be dead.

They only need soldiers in their train station for one reason. Good thing they were there for that reason, too. Anyway, it sounds like there are no casualties. That is lucky! And also good for the heavy security so they can act fast to take down this dude. Looks like Belgium did a real good job managing this incident. I wonder why Belgium is such a big target at the moment? How come Holland seem okay?

President Trump wants to keep the jihadis out, which Europe is teaching us how that is just smart. He has also committed the United States to helping to make Syria and other jihadi hot spots safer so there will hopefully be fewer refugees Even while severely antagonizing Russia in the process
