Status: offline 		US gun laws: Colorado to arm teachers in classrooms

Teachers are being trained to carry guns in classrooms in Colorado in order to protect children as part of a scheme motivated by a school massacre in 2012.

The three-day course, which consists of firearms and medical training, was launched on Tuesday in Weld County.

Seventeen members of staff who "would like to be considered armed first responders" have so far taken part.

The pilot programme will allow volunteers to enter schools with guns under US "concealed carry" laws.
Teachers were taken to a shooting range in Weld County, near Denver, where they were tested on their abilities with weapons.

Status: offline 		To be fair, most of the people I've met who've taught would probably have been a lot happier in the job if they'd been allowed to shoot the kids if they acted up.

I know about 8 teachers - everyone retired early.

They gave us the Belt in primary school and phased it out I think about year one or two secondary...better than a pistol whipping I suppose.

I am not so sure about teachers themselves carrying guns, but there should be someone armed on the premises. Probably a few of them. Jewish schools do it, Parents volunteer on a rotating basis and man the entrances at the very least. Everyone should do that. It has always been a bit puzzling why we guard our money with guns but not our kids.

I am glad that the ultrasickening liberalism is on its way out. Years ago, a kid, IIRC his name is Darrel Loutzenheimer was asked in a classroom discussion what would make him feel safer in the wake of the Columbine shootings. He said if some of the teachers were armed. That sparked all kids of shit, they wanted to send him to counseling and all this shit, for just making a logical statement.

This is the society in which we live. As long as they give out anti-depressants like candy we are going to have this problem. This is not Britain or Australia. It is still pretty much the wild west. That is how it is, if you don't like it nobody is keeping you here.

Keep it up USians, let the TV raise your kids. Let them think violence is OK because there is so much of it in the movies and on TV. Keep on shirking your responsibility and eventually your kids might kill you.
