Queen's Speech: Brexit bills dominate government agenda

A host of proposed new laws designed to prepare the UK for a "smooth and orderly" departure from the EU have been announced in the Queen's Speech.

Of 27 bills, eight relate to Brexit and its impact on immigration, trade and sectors such as fisheries and farming.

Prime Minister Theresa May urged MPs to "seize this moment of national change" to unite and work for a fairer country.

But Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said she had lost authority after axing a raft of manifesto pledges.

Proposals to scrap the winter fuel allowance for well-off pensioners, end automatic 2.5% pension rises, expand grammar schools and end free school lunches for all infants have been dropped, while reforms to social care funding will be put out to consultation and a cap on some energy tariffs considered further.

Amid continuing talks with the Democratic Unionists about them supporting Theresa May's government, a Downing Street spokesman said it was confident the Queen's Speech could "command the confidence" of the House of Commons in a vote next week.

That's a bit rich coming from somebody who staged a general election apparently to piss away her moment of national change the way a drunk pisses away his wages.
Has she managed to reach an agreement with the unionists that doesn't involve letting the orange order beat any taig who looks at them funny to death yet? I thought we didn't even have a hung parliament until May and the other fucktard had sorted that out. Maybe she went down on Bettie to stop her dissolving parliament before the speech went out or something...

Some papers seem to be going with constitutional crises looms

and here is one from the BBC

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) has played down reports it is seeking £2bn in extra funding for Northern Ireland in return for supporting the Tories.
Earlier, sources told the BBC the DUP wanted £1bn invested in Northern Ireland's health service and a similar figure for infrastructure projects.

However, DUP MP Sir Jeffrey Donaldson has described the figures as "wild speculation" and "wide of the mark".
But he did say the DUP wanted Treasury "help" with public spending priorities.

'Dinosaurs'
"We're talking to the the Treasury and to the government about, yes, investing in our infrastructure in Northern Ireland, because we've lagged behind the rest of the UK, not least due to 30 years of violence," he told BBC Newsline.

In a separate exchange in the House of Commons, he stepped in to defend the DUP after they were branded "dinosaurs".
Sir Jeffrey was indignant when the co-leader of the Green Party, Caroline Lucas, used the insult in the House of Commons.

Ms Lucas suggested that the lack of bills concerned with the environment in the government's legislative program was influenced by the DUP.
Objecting to her remarks, Sir Jeffrey invited Ms Lucas to read his party's manifesto.

He also asked the Commons Speaker to rule on whether Ms Lucas had used "unparliamentary" language, but his complaint was dismissed.
Sir Jeffrey, the MP for Lagan Valley, is a senior negotiator in the DUP's ongoing discussions with the Conservative Party.

Prime Minister Theresa May is seeking the support of the DUP's 10 MPs after losing her majority in the general election
.
'Making progress'
Both sides have been locked in talks for 11 days, but to date they have not confirmed a deal to prop up a Conservative minority government.

Well perhaps they will get there: Tory scum party and dinosaur cockbag party & form rudderless sinky ship call another fuking election, or will the dumb bint wait till they are truly sunk

oh and the Daily Mail (Christ that's some right wing nut mag) is going with

In a surprise admission, Mrs May said her Brexit plans may need the 'consent' of the Scottish parliament, where Nicola Sturgeon has said she will oppose any move to take Britain out of the single market.

You lot better hope we dont bring back hanging -waste of good rope if you ask me

She can try.

In fact, that's about all she can do now.
