ahhhhhhh Because he can
               Because it's become habit
Because he probably believes it himself
Because his mommy did not spank him nearly enough!
Because we, the American people, allow him to do so, buy into it and encourage it.

Arpig -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 12:04:48 PM)

Why wouldn't he? What possible reason could he have to stop lying? Play fast and loose with the truth has served him pretty damned well so far.

SirKenin -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 12:22:45 PM)

Why do you lie?  Why does anyone lie?  What a retarded topic.  [8|]

Yet another opportunity for this board to Bush bash without looking in their own damn backyards.

LaTigresse

Because we, the American people, allow him to do so, buy into it and encourage it.

There is a lot of truth in that. We elect them and to a large extent we get the politicians we deserve.

We do because the only alternative is to impeach  him and we'd be left with
Cheney. Having him as the VP has protected his ass since he took office.  Cheney would be worse.

SirKenin- don't feel bad.. Dr. Phil likes him :)

smilezz -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 1:02:45 PM)

My backyard is covered and i still don't care for Bush.  I have no problem with people that are Bush supporters, it's only a difference between you and i.  Right now, i HAVE the freedom to say that, just as you have yours.
It does not make you/me right or wrong........it only makes us different.

Perhaps to get bases in Iraq eventually and have more proximity to Iran?

LadyEllen -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 1:53:00 PM)

I cannot believe that so many people are so willing to bring down the wrath of the Lord upon them, by this questioning of President Bush's deeds and motivations. Do they not realise that he is President by divine will, and therefore his deeds are not only sanctioned but also guided by God, and his motivations congruent with those of the Lord? To question the President's deeds and motivations is therefore identical with questioning of the Lord, which is a blasphemy punishable by death.

I equally cannot believe that so many people are willing to risk a charge of heresy by opposing the President and his divinely inspired policies. Opposition to and disagreement about the one true Way is heresy after all, is it not? And then there are those, worse than the blasphemer or the heretic - the apostate, who pledged their support for the President at election and now, as the true Light is revealed in every deed of His chosen representative on the Earth, dissent and turn away from the President approved by and appointed by the Lord over them.

And it must be the will of the Lord that President Bush was elected, mustn't it? And he speaks often of God, so it must be that God inspires him through His Holy Spirit, mustn't it? Oh - wait, "by their deeds shall ye know them" - now that is worrying, especially as its from the Bible and it refers to those who claim to speak and do as the agent of God, and President Bush's deeds dont seem to find much foundation in the teachings of the Lord. Really anxious now.....

My goodness, if President Bush is not the agent of God, then he doesn't act under His divine guidance, may not have been appointed with His approval - he's just human. And more than that, his deeds seem to be motivated by greed, executed through violence and shielded with lies.... I cant find those in my Bible as being things approved of by God - they seem to be works of Satan.

So, we have a man who exercises the pretense of godliness to justify evil - "many shall come in my name...." - who gets his own way whatever the circumstances preceding, who has achieved the power to enslave all mankind and destroy the world.

Anyone ever see "The Omen"?

mistoferin -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 2:12:47 PM)

Oh brother. First I had a really hard time swallowing that George Bush was responsible for hurricane Katrina...I was so relieved when I found out that it was really all because of Ellen Degeneress....now you want me to believe that he's actually the anti-christ? This one is going to take alot more convincing as I always thought that the anti-christ would at least be more intelligent. LOL

LotusSong -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 2:26:04 PM)

Ellen Degeneress???  I KNEW it!!!!!

George stikes me as the rich kid who got into Daddy's porche (our country) and decided to see what it can do on the open road.... and wrecked it!.

I must say.. these days, I feel like I need to look over my shoulder for the SS whenever I want to voice an opinion.

I'm highly suspicious of any politician that keeps addressing family values, God and Mom's apple pie and the simpletons that think it that this is an honest man.

I'm  getting ready for the No Politician Left Behind Act this November.  I'm even suspicious that our votes mean anything.  I'm scared of our own government.. I really am.   We all heaved a sigh of relief as 1984 passed.. George Orwell just was off a few decades.

awwww! thanks people - comparing me to that Ellen! Maybe I'll change my sign-in name!

sorry mistoferin - I had to keep up the pretence as long as possible for it to work! I take your point about the intelligence thing, but it could be lulling us into a false sense of security or it could just be that English isnt an easy language for someone with a forked tongue (and tail, but we dont see that..... have to ask Tony Blair maybe!?)

NorthernGent -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 3:19:09 PM)

LadyEllen,

I take your point about the influence of religion in the US. My personal opinion is Bush is in no way driven by religion - he is driven by economics and self-interest. But, he and his advisers are accutely aware that there is a large proportion of US citizens that need a preacher rather than a politician.

Hence, a lot of Bush's speeches are like exercising a demon - "we must fight evil", "we must tame evil", "we must laminate evil", "we must wear evil around our necks at the backstage party in paradise". Now, there is no explanation of what constitutes evil and no explanation of why the people he claims are evil are actually evil. This is because he doesn't need to qualify it because as soon as he makes a case for good and evil, whoever they may be, it appeals to those blighted by religious dogma and in the US it appears to be a significant percentage of the population.

FangsNfeet -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 3:30:15 PM)

Should this be about GW or about all our presidents in general?

Either way, it's all about doing the right things for the wrong reasons but giving the right reasons/justification. Leaders of the USA as well as other countries have seldomly been known to just help someone or act on a situation without seeing some type of personel gain. We're going to war? Well what's in it for me? Oh, cheaper fuel, merchendise, better trade and we're freeing people. Ok, I'm in.
