I thought that righties loves the capitalist free unregulated market?

Sure I did -- you said your concern was one person controlling so much. I pointed out there are many such people.

In fact, here's the Forbes top 400 wealthiest Americans -- 14 of whom are richer than Trump; 10% of whom are immigrants.

Then there are a lot of other people you should be concerned about as well.

Actually, I just think you have a hard on for all things Bezos.

So now because you are far too stupid to ever address a real topic, you have to resort to your fallacy crutches and endeavor to make me the topic

SO desperate

SO predictable [:D]

You've yet to show your working out that Bezos is part of the liberal conspiracy.
You do know that a lot of the right don't like el presidente any more than the evil lefties who want to destroy America do, right?

Interesting. When exactly did the right stop supporting capitalism and free markets?

So, they're now socialists favoring government oversight?

Only if he can license his delivery drones to the welfare programmes that hand out food stamps to people who don't want to work before those are done away with, though: his window of opportunity is steadily shrinking...

If he wants to be critical (and he did from the moment he saw Bezos' name), a better approach would be to bring up the problems Whole Foods has been having. Remains to be seen whether Bezos solves them or exacerbates them.

Overcharging was the worst of it, though, and given Amazon's efficient and cost-competitive example, I'd guess he intends to resolve this with a more aggressive business model.

Just like the Washington Post is run by Bezos bots?

Welcome to planet Bezos:

Amazon Robots Poised to Revamp How Whole Foods Runs Warehouses

The retailer could bring its distribution technology to the grocery chain

on-Whole Foods Deal Is a Game Changer
When Amazon.com Inc.'s $13.7 billion bid to buy Whole Foods was announced, John Mackey, the grocer's chief executive officer, addressed employees, gushing about Amazon's technological innovation.

"We will be joining a company that’s visionary," Mackey said, according to a transcript of the meeting. "I think we’re gonna get a lot of those innovations in our stores. I think we’re gonna see a lot of technology. I think you’re gonna see Whole Foods Market evolve in leaps and bounds."

A major question about the acquisition is what Amazon's technology will mean for those Whole Foods' workers. Will it make their jobs obsolete?

In negotiations, Amazon spent a lot of time analyzing Whole Foods' distribution technology, pointing to a possible way in which the company sees the most immediate opportunities to reduce costs, said a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the issue was private. Amazon, through a spokesman, declined to comment, as did Whole Foods.

Experts say the most immediate changes would likely be in warehouses that customers never see. That suggests the jobs that could be affected the earliest would be in the warehouses, where products from suppliers await transport to store shelves, said Gary Hawkins, CEO of the Center for Advancing Retail and Technology, a Los Angeles nonprofit that helps retailers and brands innovate. As Amazon looks to automate distribution, cashiers will be safe-- for now.

"The easiest place for Amazon to bring its expertise to bear is in the warehouses, because that's where Amazon really excels," Hawkins said. "If they can reduce costs, they can show that on the store shelves and move Whole Foods away from the Whole Paycheck image."

Amazon sees automation as a key strategic advantage in its overall grocery strategy, according to company documents reviewed by Bloomberg before the Whole Foods acquisition was announced.

More

(I'm fairly confident you had a point. If I needed a news report...I could have Googled it).

Musicmystery -> RE: BEZOS BOTS TO RUN WHOLE FOODS (6/26/2017 5:22:08 PM)

Drew Herdener, a spokesman for Amazon, said it has no plans to use the Amazon Go technology to automate the jobs of cashiers at Whole Foods and no job reductions are planned as a result of the deal. Whole Foods workers are not unionized.

If the deal goes through, Amazon and Whole Foods will still only account for about 3.5 percent of grocery spending in the United States, making it the country’s fifth-largest grocery retailer, according to estimates by John Blackledge, an analyst at Cowen & Company.

For Whole Foods, the deal represents a chance to fend off pressure from activist investors frustrated by a sluggish stock price as it has faced fierce competition from Costco, Safeway and Walmart, which have begun offering organic produce and kitchen staples, forcing Whole Foods to slash prices. Money managers, unhappy with the pace of the turnaround effort, have pushed for more, taking aim at the board, its grocery offerings and its pricey real estate holdings.

Even with the bigger physical presence Amazon will gain through Whole Foods, it will have far less reach than Walmart and its Sam’s Club warehouse chain, which together account for about 18 percent of the grocery market. Walmart has almost 10 times the number of stores as Whole Foods does.

OMG! Progress and innovation in a free business market? Horrors! When will it end?

Remember when the right was pro-business? Guess that's just "RINOs" now...

I never know what the fuck Boscoe is saying or, the direction he's heading but...allow me:

The 15 dollar an hour wage thing has failed (Philadelphia says it's added jobs...every other city {Seattle, foremost among them...a city that's growing by what can only be described as "wildfire"} says it's reduced them. In the end...more fast foods are now setting up "pick your own food" kiosks because...it works (better). Was it due to the "15 for 40" wars?

Who knows but, not only was the writing on the wall....designing a store with this kind of technology takes at least 35 months and...this discussion has been "on" for about 24....so...the "market" has been "on this" waiting....for about 10 years...and the tide has now turned.

The market was ready for this turn of events and...it has arrived and...the result: Fewer jobs.

(Cheaper food).

(It's fairly basic math).

What's ultimately fascinating to me is...McDonalds (and others...Carls', every fast food anyone) have spent the last 75 years praising their ability to "raise the next generation of managers"...yet with this national push towards raising their costs...they simply saw the writing on the wall and said...."enough".

(It's just math).

. . .

Uh huh.

So the mantra of "business is more efficient" as argument that more privatization of everything is better, and the "Get the government off our backs!" hissy fit that got a Boraxo salesman elected president and resulted in a decades-long Jihad against any and all regulation has the chickens coming home to roost from that nefarious endeavor and . . .

Now you scream like a girl.

I mean, just now you noticed?

The FTC and the Justice Department's Anti-Trust Division which regulate mergers and acquisitions have had their official seal's likenesses used as target practice at the firing range from 1981 onwards, and it's never ceased.

But this (potential) transaction actually has nothing to do with any monopolistic concerns at all, so in fact the massive deregulation has not much to do with it.

Whole Foods is very small potatoes in the grand scheme of the grocery retailing sector, and anything about this endeavor is as legal now when BEZOS! is doing it (made you scream! again, ha ha) as it was when GM bought Delco and started GM finance, and as have numerous manufacturers bought one or several of their suppliers, etc., including those who are just now suppliers for the mother ship in a new venture. This has been been going on for ages, chappie.

But as pointed out elsewhere in the thread, mostly by yourself, the issue is that you hate that a hard-core Libertarian such as Bezos is involved, whom you nevertheless consider to be "far, far leftist!" or a "radical leftist!" because anyone whose name name doesn't begin with 'Generalissimo Francisco Franco' or 'Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte' is unavoidably "far far leftist!" by your eminently sober and condign estimation.

If we could all just come to an amenable and convenient conclusion that his name is actually "Jeff Rockefeller Bezos," could you find your way to shriek somewhat less screechingly, so that the rest of us could loosen our ear plugs just a bit?

The point is, e.d., that leftist trash scream about the 1% while going down on that part of the 1% that is really an issue for society

(Not even a nice try)
