The main problem with water is stupid homeowners having green grass lawns, sometimes required by even stupider HOA's. While a Mediterranean Climate is not the same as a desert, much of coastal California actually gets less rain than actual desert cities like Las Vegas and Phoenix. The rock garden and cactus lawns that are popular there are strangely absent in SoCal. California's model of governance isn't perfect, but if the rest of the states were more like California, they would not be the hellholes most of them are. It's impossible to say what would happen if California were to actually leave, other than there would likely be other states wanting to leave a well. Not really understanding why any of the West Coast or Northern states want to be associated with the former Confederate states. Lincoln made a grave error in simply not saying good riddance, though I'm sure you think the same of CalExit. This is not a United States of America, not sure it ever quite was, but a breakup of some kind is what needs to happen. It doesn't necessarily have to be a violent breakup, some other countries have broken up without that, but there's no way this farce of a United States can continue much longer.
