They're complaining that they can't compete with the arab airlines because the middle eastern lot can afford to undercut them. What can be done about that through means other than the sort of government underwriting and economic protectionism that makes Milton Friedman turn in his grave?

As Hill has pointed out, if you keep pumping money into their countries by buying oil from them, anything else you try short of killing them all is not going to achieve anything.
