More than 100 people in the UK have been convicted of terrorism offences related to Syria and Iraq since 2014, research by the BBC has revealed.

The youngest is a schoolboy from Blackburn who was 14 when he incited an act of terrorism in Australia.

The figures also show there are growing numbers of women and girls being prosecuted.

Police say five terror plots have been foiled since March and 18 thwarted since 2013.

For the last two years the BBC has tracked the numbers of people from the UK who have been drawn into the conflict in Syria and Iraq.

The most comprehensive online record of its kind, it shows the rapidly escalating number of prosecutions since 2014.

There will be more.

Why were they allowed back into the UK anyway I never understood that

Status: offline 		I dont either WD, once they join terrorists, they have violated their right to come back...that goes for any crime actually. kick them out.
Has there been any uptick in hiring more cops to deal with the number of threats?
Ive kinda been out of the stream of info lately.

Of course there hasn't. The conservatives are in power at the moment and the police force are a public service...

Status: offline 		Under the Tory scumbag party - nothing is sacrosanct to them. Since they came to power in 2010, I think it was:

Police numbers have stayed about the same in Scotland.
In England they have fallen about 20 000 shakes his head which would be akin to a drop of 2, 000 in Scotland.

And no they dont have enough officers: they cannot even watch everyone on the "watch lists" they prioritise them

I agree why let them (who form part of that article) back in

They tend to leave Scotland (and wales (and NI)) alone, much like the IRA and Loyalist mob did.

Status: offline 		Only 100 people caught in 3 years. I don't think they are doing a good job.

Not when quite a few of the recent UK terrorist attack were by people who were on radar for Terrorism and they did nothing.

I guess the 100 people just got in trouble for flying to Syria or something.

I know our country red flags everybody who flies to Syria.

Probably because outside of a couple of the larger cities, there aren't all that many moslems in Scotland in the first place?

Status: offline 		We do not have the diversity of England - the percentages I forget off the top of my head. I did include wales too etc

That aside the holy grail is
1. London
2. Manchester - this should be number 3 but it is not
3. Birmingham

The rest is of no real importance to their cause Some jocks die who cares
