I find this hilarious.

http://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/muslim-groups-malaysia-indonesia-boycott-starbucks-over-lgbtq-support-n780091

And it's very different in a Muslim country where the peer pressure on the streets is immense. Starbucks will face big trouble because these Muslim groups will guilt trip the rest of Muslims that having Starbucks is un-Islamic. Eventually, I am sure they gonna issue a Fatwa against Starbucks, which will make it more difficult for Muslims who like starbucks to visit starbucks in the future. Once their High Sharia Council officially declares a Fatwa, which these groups are pressuring them to do.

I love how Starbucks is dealing with this PR crisis by simply saying they are not associated with any political groups pushing any agenda.

As it's not the western white patriarchy making this cause, there is no need to bash the group behind it.

wow, Starbucks sure does catch crap for some dumb reasons. I don't drink over priced over complicated coffee flavors, so Starbucks isn't on my political radar. Starbucks needs to take a lesson from Lafayette (True Blood).

Are the trumptooners still bitching about Starbucks as well?

Given that the OP is about Muslims...and THEIR action against STARBUCKS...I'd say you should never again say a word about anyone else's reading comprehension.

Why isn't that reaction against Starbucks "catch[ing] crap for some dumb reasons"?

Seems that way to me too. Maybe check your own reading comprehension?

Note the bolded phrase that your own awesome reading comprehension skills seem to have missed.

Way to cherry pick one line. Can you state that the line you picked is what the OP is about? Or is it about Muslim's boycotting Starbucks for their stance on LBGT issues?

Maybe check your own reading comprehension.

I'm not gonna have a whine fest with you.

You started in with the slam, I pointed out it seemed on topic to me, and I quoted the particular points relevant to my assessment, which you call "cherry picking."

Fuck off. I'm not having any more bullshit discussions here. Like arguing with children, FFS.

OK, honey, sure. It's exactly what you said. Here, have a Starbucks.

It is definitely a great deal of free advertising. Nothing sells better than a perceived scandal.

My mom and her church were always calling on the Southern Baptist congregations to boycott different businesses for all kinds of reasons. They even called to boycott Disney Land or World for having one day a year set aside for LGBT groups. What seems dumb to me, is religiously important to others. I should have been more tactful, as I've been trying to be respectful of religious beliefs since someone on the boards called me on it and made me aware of what I was doing.

FWIW, you are probably the most tactful person on these boards, and the one that tries the hardest to be understanding of others, even when they are clearly being provocative. I have been amazed at your restraint at times. Admittedly without knowing anything about the posts you are referring to, I would have to check the snowflake status of anyone who thought they had reason to call you out.

Just my two cents.

Thank you, that was nice to hear.

As it turns out, he was correct. Some retrospection and re-reading our interactions what he said was right, how he said it not so much.
I like that I can come hear and learn new things about myself and others POV. No harm, no foul.

I hate all coffee equally. They all taste bad. Why would I drink coffee when I could drink hot chocolate or ice chocolate instead? Chocolate > Coffee!

And besides, a local ice coffee taste a gazillion better than starbucks. Much more aromatic and fragrant and complex. Starbucks just taste like coffee.

That's why you guys don't vote fundies to form your government.

But in Muslim countries. That's another story. The fundies are their government.

From PR stand point, where Star Bucks operate in a country where majority are against LGBT, I wonder what will they need to do to improve their PR.

See if some fundie christian talk about boycotting starbucks in America. It does not matter. As majority of the country are pro-LGBT.

But In Indonesia, just like how the governor of Jakarta got jailed for simply appealing to Muslims to vote for him. There was no issue in the beginning. But it was the fundie Muslims Groups that kick up a big fuss and use Quran Scriptures to tell the government how he has broken Islamic law. And the government of Indonesia, has no choice but to prosecute the governor. As they can't argue against it religiously. And then he got jailed for 2 years, due to religious groups pressure.

Starbucks gotta know, they could very well, the same could happen to them.
