Trump is a show man. Is Putin just stating the obvious that everybody knows? He believes bad publicity is still good publicity. But a man who is able to increase his wealth from million to billions to negative billions to back to billions is no retard. I challenge anybody who thinks they are better than Trump to do the same. I think the mettle of a rich kid is shown when they have lost all their money and are in negative situation. Alot of poor kids who got rich, lost their millions and commit suicide. You either sink or continue swimming. Trump show steel mettle in his lowest times. That's what made me feel he will be able to tackle the Presidential challenge. But he couldn't have won this Presidency being a regular "nice" and "diplomatic" politician. When do "nice guys" ever win? Look at Bernie Sanders? Crush by Hillary. So clearly, he knows what he is doing, and he will do whatever it takes.

I'm not sure that Trump will take Putin's remarks as compliments. For Trump his TV ratings are at the core of his status and self image. Trump seems to place more importance on his minor show business celebrity status than his current gig as POTUS. The idea that the Trump we can see on TV isn't the 'real Trump' won't be welcomed by Trump who wants us all to believe that the TV Trump is the real Trump. After all his carefully cultivated TV persona is far more likeable than the real life Trump - a serial adulterer, serial bankrupt, pathological liar, self centred, ego-maniacal bigot so vile and repulsive that his own mother would have difficulty liking him.

Only the point of view of a Leftist. His TV Persona is what helped him win an election, so clearly, multi-millions of Americans do not agree with you. Being President is no easy feat. Especially when you need to make people like you enough to vote for you. Also a little strategy necessary for the American system to get specifically the votes that matters. Trump won also by strategy. He couldn't have won popular vote as I think the population of Leftist in the US is more than Rightist. But with Electoral vote, he knew which states he needs to win over. And he did it.
