John Carpenter. There is a book by James Herbert called The Fog but it's nothing to do with the film The Fog. (There is, however, a dreadful film of The Rats.)

not sure i have seen any of his films I was always more the double bill, black white on Saturday nights - I got up to stuff like Phantasm1, EvilDead 1, Omen 1, Halloween 1 etc - but after that the were all pish - hurling folk into a meat grinder or some rot part 50 whats that Obscucra one I liked the music
