US President Donald Trump has said his eldest son's controversial meeting last year with a Russian lawyer counted as "opposition research".

Speaking at a news conference during a visit to Paris, Mr Trump said "most people" would have taken the meeting.

Emails show the president's son and two top campaign officials met the Russian attorney during the campaign.

A Senate panel is asking Donald Trump Jr to publicly testify about the meeting.
Chuck Grassley, the Republican chairman of the judiciary committee, said he would issue a subpoena, compelling the president's son to testify, if necessary.

If Trump Jr. were caught lying about all of his emails and deleting them, wiped his server with Bleachbit, then destroyed his smart phone with a hammer - would the media suddenly lose all interest in the story and declare him innocent?

Reading comprehension is definitely not your area.

1) There's a law.
2) It's a felony.
3) It was broken.
4) The person who broke it committed a felony.

There's no provision there for Rs and Ds. You're thinking of dictatorships and one party rule.

That's not how things work in the US.

Jr. could meet with a Russian prostitute -- no problem (except for Russian law).
Jr. could meet with a Russian bakery owner about getting better bagels for his breakfast.
Jr. could meet with a Russian tour guide and ask a lot of questions about scenic attractions.

Jr. could also follow the law and properly report any required disclosures.

What he can't do is violate the law that makes it illegal to collude with a foreign government and accept gifts to influence the US election.

Because that's a felony.

See the difference? Here, I'll give you an example:

Status: offline 		Now I wasn't paying real close attention, but did some terrible dirt about Hillary, provided by the Russians, get brought up during the campaign?

Sad to say, Trump did not need the Russians to beat Clinton, she lost because she was a horrible candidate, and people perceived Trump to be a step in the right direction, away from the corruption rampant in our government.
