Acid attacks: What has led to the rise and how can they be stopped?

The latest acid attacks in north-east London on Thursday, which saw five people being sprayed with a corrosive liquid, add to a growing number of cases being reported in the UK.

Last month cousins Resham Khan and Jameel Muhktar were left with life-changing injuries after a corrosive liquid was thrown at them through a car window.

And in April clubbers in east London were caught up in an attack involving acid, which left 20 people injured.

Assaults involving corrosive substances have more than doubled in England since 2012, police figures show.

The vast majority of cases were in London.

It is legal to purchase strong acid but there have been growing calls for regulations to be tightened in the wake of recent incidents.

It's not like I was listening to that stuff when Acid was big, and I could have had a lot more fun than I did with the stuff I was listening to...

That was a three or four years before. Lovesexy was Prince's 1988 album, and was dreadful.

I was going to go when Doves Cry - but I always have problems finding the original

WhoreMods -> RE: Acid attacks: What has led to the rise (7/16/2017 12:21:22 PM)

That's the thing that always bugged me about that film, to be honest: he's in a battle of the bands set up against The Time, they come out and play this murderous funk number, then the purple midget wins by playing a piano ballad after that?
Pull the other one, it's got bells on...

My encroaching senility aside i cannot remember one thing about that film other than i have seen it once - did he get Sheena in the end, or was it a shovel of drugs?

Something about a bike I remember that - same ending you could say

Both, as a matter of fact.
Still, it's a lot more fun than his other two films.
(If the opportunity to watch Under The Cherry Moon ever comes up: don't. That's an hour and three quarters of your life you'll never get back.)

There's a lot more than three films if you're counting the concert recordings (some of which are worth a look).
I much prefer Dirty Mind and 1999 to Purple Rain myself.
I'd hope there's a decent best of as well, but you can probably only get a four disc set if he compiled it himself...

WickedsDesire -> RE: Acid attacks: What has led to the rise (7/16/2017 2:22:27 PM)

I do not doubt he was half decent in the same way Bowie was a genius (The only year i went to T in the park - to be denied) - but I know little of most genres and i didnt like most of what I heard - but i am tone deaf too most.

whilst i was sifting through something to post on here
Splendid pantaloons I think we would all agree a veritable space oddity

WhoreMods -> RE: Acid attacks: What has led to the rise (7/17/2017 4:52:27 AM)

The comparison to Bowie's quite sharp: both were very definitely style over surface acts who were a lot beter on superficial flash and image than composition. Whatever can be said against Prince though, he was a much better musician than Bowie and had more of a range as a songwriter.

Hmmm . . . ya lost me. I have no idea what Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" has to do with "acid" of any type, but at least link up to the original version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUwEIt9ez7M What you linked to is second rate, at best.

You know what is worst than acid attacks? Although that is pretty damaging already.

In Malaysia, they attack you by injecting you with a stringe filled with blood that has Aids. They just come out of no where and inject you when you least expected in public.

That is crazier! How can you stop that one? I don't know. People wanna kill, people wanna kill. This is like slow murder.
