So this is my ooey-gooey post of the year:

Last night was a difficult one.  I'm pretty stressed about still settling into a new place, still not employed, with all of my older partners friends coming over tomorrow evening and needing to have the place ready for company in time.  Within 4 weeks I've gotten very used to having a partner in bed with me every night and ended up sleeping alone last night.  It took me a very long time to get to sleep.

I ended up having a horrible dream about an ex of mine, which involved my older partner walking out on me and having to scream at my ex.  I woke up from this with an enormous migraine in my head.

I stumbled into my older partners bedroom where he was on his computer doing stuff, flopped into his bed and laid down for a few minutes.

I realized this still wasn't close enough for me so I got him to snuggled into bed with me and told him about my dream.  We hugged and he massaged my shoulders to help ease the tension and let go of some of the migraine tension.

Then we got a little more snuggly and slipped into sex fun and I got myself off.  We snuggled again and watched some TV, I made us lunch and then took a nap.  I'd manage to shove what is usually a 6-12 hour process with my migraines into just 2 hours and was feeling awesome again.  Heavenly fun.

Sounds like you are suffering stress from the big move and all it involved. My prescription is a hot bubbe bath, a good book a glass of wine. Hang in there it will smooth out.

How do you like your new hometown so far?

Here's something that I would have my ex-wife do when I was on a long deployment. First your going to need a pillow. Preferably one of a large size if not a body pillow. Next, you'll need to get a cologne that your mate used to to use and put in onto the pillow just before you go to bed. I remember you posting that you had a sensitive nose so you're not going to want to put too much on. This used to help my ex-spouse to sleep when I was away for a while. It also gave her abit of security.

Thanks Twice for responding and giving advice.  The Big Stress of this week was my older partners lifelong braintrust group of friends coming over this evening for socializing.  Taking an entire apartment from "moved cross country" to "perfect and ready for important VIP guests" within 3 weeks was a huge endeavor for me.

I'm glad to say we pulled it off nearly perfectly with the only loss being that the CDs were only alphabetized up to the Ps (considering the collection is in the 1000's that's not too bad), and my younger partner did not run the dishwasher as he had said he would before dinner, leaving us short of regular drink glasses.

But they loved the concert ticket book collection and timeline of events of everyone that I had created and the apartment was spotless.  One of his friends asked how long we'd been going together as I was able to find pics of his high school friends in his yearbook faster than he could.  You mean there are girlfriends who don't spend hours poring over past letters/pictures/yearbooks and dragging out every story to get all the information and connections they can?  Grand success all around.

Now I can move onto my next stressor- still being unemployed.

Just kidding, I'm taking the weekend off to relax finally!

From what I've seen, Austin rocks.  It's on the far edge of cosmopolitan for me so I wouldn't want to LIVE anyplace less busy, but the culture here is a great mix of creole/southern/western/techie/college blend fun and I'm digging that.

Having two pools and a hot tub within 2 minutes walking everyday is nice also.

Thanks again for the advice, gave me a much needed smile.

Thanks, I think it's more annoying knowing he's in the bedroom DOWN THE HALL.

But I've got my polar bear for snuggling.

I get migraines from time to time as well - I look at them as my body's way of telling me to take a day off already, as I'm notoriously bad about doing that right now (work 7 days a week during the summer, either at work or school every day over the school year).   Partly it's stress induced (can't imagine why when I fret deeply over the fear of *gasp* actually getting a B in a class, or not making enough money over the summer to pay tuition/books/expenses) and partly it's just a deep need to spend the day in bed.

So are you really surprised you got one when you're dealing with a major move, stressing about work and unpacking?  Sounds like a recipe for a migraine to me.  The good news is that as you get settled in (which you are doing) and find appropriate work (which you will), the stress will smooth out.  Just make sure that you keep an eye on your stress levels and make time for things that'll ease it.

I'm gonna have to try that orgasm thing to get over them next time I get a mirgraine though ;-)

Not surprised at all- although having one when I wake up is pretty rare and means things are REALLY bad.

I've used orgasms when I could BEFORE the migraine got bad to give me a bit of extra time to fall asleep through it.  But once I'm in the throes of it, it's usually not a good idea to do much at all.

Oh yikes.  I'm so glad you made a bad morning into a good morning!  I hate moving and expecially if there is a deadline to unpack and settle!  I hope it all goes well  :)

I can really relate here. I am still not settled and it has been two weeks. I am still un-employed and stressing over alligators, stray dogs, barn owls, broken air conditioner, and still not knowing my address because my new landlord doesnt know it. I just love living on the Savannah river. BUT..I am right where I want to be :) I'm glad everything turned out for you in the time you needed it to.

I wish I were finished with my move..and I definitely wish I were finished with all the paper work it takes to even purchase my own place..And I really really really wish that my inner tormentor would just stop screaming at me.."You are in wayy over your head!!"...but on the bright side I do not suffer with migraines..but I am beginning to wonder if a nervous breakdown is in order?..humm I will have to think about that......LA..the worst is over, just take care of the wee detailed things then poof! you are completely settled and moved..good luck on your new life!...Tempting
