the idea that the federal constitution is strictly between the states originally not intended for the people is another illusion of the courts. If the constitution were created by and for the states, then riddle me this batman: Since when does a state have a right to 'life', how about 'liberty'? Privacy to be secure in its papers and effects? Anyone here believe that bullshit? The only think we know for sure is that we the people gave them no permission what so ever to regulate speech, religion, arms, or privacy. Of course ask rooty tooters and they will usher in the supreme courts, 'rights are not absolute' only the presumed grant of total state regulation is absolute. In constitutional parlance, police power is the right and obligation of each state to legislate for the health, safety, welfare and morality of people in the state. This is basically what state governments -- and local governments with the approval of their state governments -- do. And it is basically what the Constitution was written to prevent the federal government from doing. Those who wrote, ratified and amended the Constitution all took pains to keep the police power out of the hands of the federal government for several reasons. One was federalism. The states are sovereign entities, 13 of which are older than the federal government. By retaining the police power in the states, the Constitution's drafters provided a check -- a limitation -- on the reach of the federal government. states have NO rights, they have grant of authority, which creates an obligation but not a right, only people have rights, at least before they stole them all. Amazing what changing one little word here and there does to destroy original intent. then if we want to take that to its reasonable conclusion......the people are sovereign as individuals because only a sovereign individual can claim any 'right' not claimed by the feds or the state, and if an individual cannot claim an absolute right as their own then they are slaves and operate under a set of regulations and privileges set for by their overlord masters. Point being that you all are living in the matrix, a gubmint generated program to turn you into a Duracell.
