I am not really phased, I have mentioned the lack of other Black posers before, I will mention
it again, and whenever I want.
I could name 20 different ethnic groups that don't or rarely post here, and that also would be a FACT.

I don't need to keep going on about anything. I was responding directly to incorrect statements you made, which is when you told me that I needed to stop. So You are the one who took issue with a statement i made, not the other way around.

All the creatures and plants are genetically related. Not that I think you can breed with a potato. (And I do not want to know about any efforts.)

To interbreed you tend to need to stay in the same Genus, not necessarily Species. Hence we can have ligers! Different species, yet same genus (Panthera).

Now to the article - nothing really new there. There were several Homo species running around a long time ago. Apparently they screwed like rabbits. H. Sapiens won out in the end. Ethnic origin, would be a better term than race, but it is an unclear term to most users.

Now the picture on the article - the monkey profile behind the sunset - that seems interesting. In the US we have become very very sensitive to any link in any way being made between any human from Africa and a monkey. (Hence monkey/ape jokes about Bush were fine and monkey/ape jokes about Obama were not fine.) So, I think it is a good question to ask about the "PC" of this article.

In fact, the PC question is so apparent, that 4 pages have been spent trying to shut the conversation down.

I didn't see that image as a chimp profile at all, and I don't believe that it is. what I believe they were trying to say (with the 'cosmic' overlay) was that we have mysterious ancestry

Looks more like a homo erectus profile, or another more advanced hominin to me

I don't think the science can be discussed here without some howler screaming their usual inanities, which was why I dared bring it up. Why allow them to shut down conversation, and let ignorance itself win

Going right back to the OP, there is no can of worms.

Human sub-species certainly interbred. This article only highlights one interesting interbreeding that took place.

As has been pointed out early Europeans interbred with Neanderthals who were in Europe after a previous migration from Africa and this took place long after the interbreeding referred to in the article. Both humans and Neanderthals had evolved in the time between the two migrations but not enough that they couldn't successfully interbreed.

None of us are pure. As far as we know that all modern human have significantly less variation between them (despite different skin colours and facial features) than the difference between the currently identified sub-species.

I'm part Neanderthal. So what? I'm still more closely genetically related to sub-Saharan Africans than I am to a Neanderthal.

So Boscox, what is the can of worms and what point are you making by trying to stir it?

In studying the evolution of the protein, the team looked at the MUC7 gene across 2,500 modern human genomes. In a surprising discovery, a drastically different version of the MUC7 gene was found in the genomes of people from Sub-Saharan Africa.

"When we looked at the history of the gene that codes for the protein, we see the signature of archaic admixture in modern day Sub-Saharan African populations," says Omer Gokcumen assistant professor of biological sciences in the University at Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences.

This Sub-Saharan MUC7 gene variant was so distinctive that it led researchers to conclude that it was the result of interbreeding with another human species as recently as 150,000 years ago.

"This unknown human relative could be a species that has been discovered, such as a subspecies of Homo erectus, or an undiscovered hominin," says Gokcumen. "We call it a 'ghost' species because we don't have the fossils."
