ORIGINAL: WhoreMods I've been trying to avoid GOT, to be honest. I've read a shitload of fantasy fiction so whenever I try to watch it I just find myself thinking: "He's been ripped off from Tolkein, she's from Karl Edward Wagner's Conan novel, he's from Poul Anderson, he's from Robert E Vardeman, the baby dragons were demons in Roger Zelazny..." Im addicted to it, I read a fair amount of fantasy over the years, not with as much intensity that you have(from what Ive made of your posts:) But it is in my humble opinion, the best tv show out there. Mix in the being built from the war of the roses, and Im hooked. Im not oblivious to the criticism of it, and as my ol man hasnt seen any of them or read the books, I get it, but it gives me the feels every show. I dont want it to end right now. Neither does George RR Martin want it to end. I do find it astonishing given how well it's been doing there haven't been any "us too!" productions: about all that springs to mind is Krod Mandoon and His Flaming Sword (or whatever it was called), and that was a send up. I suppose insecure sorts claiming that a story featuring dragons, magic, and an army of the undead in a non-historical setting that's probably taking place on a planet in a binary solar system (from all that "winter is coming stuff") isn't a fantasy is putting people off looking for other fantasy series to put into production on the telly as this chunk of the audience GOT has built will sniffily turn their noses up at that. Shame really. Would a Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser TV series really be too much to ask for?
