Following the worst week for a President in living memory, the latest leak from high up sources within the Great Sieve (formerly known as the White House) are transcripts of conversations between Trump and the President of Mexico Pena Nieto, and the Australian PM Turnbull. These leaks are particularly significant as: 1. they follow the appointment of Gen Kelly as chief of staff at the Great Sieve. One of Kelly's priority tasks is to stop the flow of leaks from within the Great Sieve; 2. transcripts of conversations between national leaders are rarely made public, as the leaders talk frankly believing (supposedly) that the talks will be kept confidential; and 3. transcripts are only circulated among the highest levels of an Administration - in order to ensure their confidentiality, to prevent their publication. So the leaks from highly placed sources within the Administration are continuing. The transcripts can be read in full here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/politics/australia-mexico-transcripts/ Here is an analysis of the leaks: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/aug/03/white-house-leaks-transcripts-donald-trump-pena-nieto-malculm-turnbull The leaks reveal Trump (and the others too) as saying one thing in public and another in private. While modestly understating himself as the "greatest person on earth". Trump is revealed to be primarily concerned with the optics of an issue, how it will affect his image and popularity. Matters such as the national interest and policy detail come distant seconds and thirds. For example, on his notorious border wall with Mexico: "In private “This is the least important thing that we are talking about.” – Trump to Peña Nieto. In public “We need to build a wall and it has to be built quickly.” – Trump during a Fox News Republican primary debate, 6 August 2015." Who'd have guessed that Trump says one thing in public to the American people, and another to foreign leaders in private? Who'd have guessed that Trump is a narcisstic egomaniac? Has Trump confirmed all the criticisms made by the Left (and his own party too)? As a Grand Jury is empaneled to review the "Russia Thing", thereby confirming that it is a very real issue, not the "fake news" Trump has consistently claimed, how far removed is Trump from being a national disaster for the US?
