I'm perfectly okay with people who are not legally in the US leaving.

We do have rules, yanno. Canada has her own immigration rules, and I'm willing to bet a lot of the illegal immigrants in the US wouldn't be able to legally immigrate to Canada, either.

of course you are, and they arent all illegals, sorry.

Canada opens Montreal Olympic Stadium for migrants from US

Montreal is temporarily opening its Olympic Stadium as a shelter to host a sudden increase in asylum seekers arriving from the US.

More than 4,300 people have crossed into Canada seeking refugee status since January.
The majority have crossed into the province of Quebec, straining government and community resources.

Many of them have been denied asylum in the US and are hoping for a second chance on the other side of the border.

The stadium received the request for space last Friday.
Asylum seekers began to be moved into the building, one of Montreal's most well-known landmarks, on Wednesday morning.

More than 3,300 people crossed into Quebec between 1 January and 30 June.

....Francine Dupuis, of Praida, a provincial programme for the reception and integration of asylum seekers, told the BBC that another 1,200 people crossed into the province in July, about 90% of them from Haiti.

etc

Less than 10 000 per year is still fairly modest - but thats the American Border - I have no idea what their annual total is.

Canada population is 35 million - half the UK and 1/10 the USA

Your article had nothing about the great white north balking about all of the brown people coming in from the United States

This thread is an entirely different topic

No reason to be sorry, Lucy. I have no need to change my statements, either.

"I'm perfectly okay with people who are not legally in the US leaving.

Nowhere does anything I stated say that all those going to Canada are illegally in the US.

Project much?

The OP stated "refugees" and the link stated "refugees" and "asylum seekers", no mention of illegal immigrants, so why are you only talking about illegal immigrants? why dont you start your own thread instead of hijacking this one? [8|] People that claim refugee status are legal pending their hearing/application decision.. even here in the US... Not all will be accepted but until that determination they are legal, but some of those fleeing Trump have gone thru the process and been accepted as refugees.. they dont trust Trump or the US to keep their word and those people would rather travel to Canada than find out that Trump has changed the rules and decided they are to leave..

You have said that those that are legally in the US have nothing to fear. You are so fucking wrong, even Americans (with a great tan) have plenty to fear, Trump has intensified those fears.. what amazes me is that y'all are so gung ho to deport illegal immigrants but you turn a blind eye to the Americans that are illegally detained and even illegally deported.. You Americans dont seem to realize that you too have to carry your "papers" with you.. I guess if you have white skin with no hint of brown, you feel safe...

just to show you that born in America Americans are being illegally detained & possibly deported, here is a recent article.. this same sort of thing has happened to thousands of Americans, btw..
"U.S. Citizen Who Was Held By ICE For 3 Years Denied Compensation By Appeals Court"
http://www.npr.org/2017/08/01/540903038/u-s-citizen-held-by-immigration-for-3-years-denied-compensation-by-appeals-court

And speaking about applying to immigrate legally, do y'all know that Trump just changed the rules on that, now the visas available for family have been halved and restricted further... many of these people have gone thru the process and waited years, some have waited ten years or longer to legally immigrate, now your Great Leader tells them "no, fuck off"...

WickedsDesire -> RE: Canada 'Close To Limit' As Refugees Flee USA... (8/3/2017 12:37:38 PM)

Op is mental you know that right?

BoscoX -> RE: Canada 'Close To Limit' As Refugees Flee USA... (8/3/2017 2:03:58 PM)

The point of the OP is that Canadians like to act real smug when condemning America for tightening its immigration policies, yet squeal in horror when they are subjected to a tiny fraction of the immigrant burden that the US has had to put up with

WickedsDesire -> RE: Canada 'Close To Limit' As Refugees Flee USA... (8/3/2017 2:09:06 PM)

Elaborate?

You are perfectly ok with your own bigotry and racism.

We do have rules, yanno.

The rules that would put those who employ illegal aliens in prison you do not seem interested in enforcing.

How much money you got that you want to loose bigot?

I lived in South Florida in the late 70s and early 80s when Haitians had a real reason to flee in the form of good old Papa Doc Duvalier. They flooded into Florida back then. At the same time the Mariel boat lift was also flooding South Florida with Cuban refugees daily. From what I was able to observe the Cubans got jobs and settled in to become useful residents almost immediately and the Haitians just lived in the streets in abandoned or stolen cars and were the source of a great deal of street crime as well as sucking up a lot of social services. Just my opinion based on my personal experience, but Canada can have them.

Scotland just settled the last 25% of Syrians for the UK

Immigrants like those didn't build America. They've never built anything. They make the countries they immigrate to, more like the homelands that they flee from
