ORIGINAL: Termyn8or quote:
Two days ao a person drug a Georgia cop over one hundred feet before the cop shot him. That was just because the cop tried to stop him for shoplifting. How was he drug (dragged) ? Was his shirt caught in the car door or something ? And shoplifting, that seems to be part of the attitude in the US. Even my ex boss who made good money. We needed some thermal glue for a job and said right out "That is too small to pay for". Another guy, owned a landscaping business, had his olady stealing DVDs. And he gets busted for manhandling the security guard who busted her ! There are all kinds of people on the net who claim that more guns leads to more crime, but believe me, around here if they took all the guns away there would be more crime. And drunk driving ? Well 90 % of the people get away with it. It's Friday night here, how many people go to the bar after work and get lit and then drive home ? There is not enough jail space for all of them. In fact my last one seven years ago they let me go with a ticket without posting any bail at all. Just sign here. In fact I flunked the breathalyzer and they supposedly aren't supposed to let you got until the next morning even with bail. There is one thing about drunk driving, it is where the person starts from. So many can barely drive sober, two beers and they should not drive. They come out on amateur night, like Christmas eve and all that. Others have learned and could pass the driving test after drinking a twelve pack. The problem now is that I can't see. When I drink I do not speed, I do not get tipsy, I do not slur my speech. Sometimes I get double vision or something I can only term as ocular torsion. This is where the eyes might be lied up but one is twisted so that a flat plane is no longer seem as flat. It is tilted. Even back when I drove when that or double vision happened I let someone else drive. But we were a crowd that went to see local bands, which of course played in bars. There is/was a place in Lakewood called the Symposium which consisted of a bunch of largely soundproof bars in one big building. Believe me you had to watch out when leaving that place. My th0ughts on drunk driving ? Mostly, let it go unless the person is off balance and all that. But then, anything you do is considered intentional. A fender bender is vandalism. Cause an injury and it is assault with a deadly weapon. Cause a death and it is first degree murder. Get rid of seat belts and air bags and all that and watch people learn how the fuck to drive. Go back to those metal dashboards that HURT. Watch people learn to watch where they're going. I relinquished the wheel when I felt the need out of personal responsibility. I do not want to hurt anyone. I had nothing else to lose. I usually never went to court and my warrants were always quashed. I don't feel like going into why at the moment, but it comes from something that happened a very long time ago. So I got nothing to lose. But then I realize not everyone has those options. First of all I don't go to bars alone. I almost always had someone to whom I could hand off the wheel. Another thing is in suburbia sometimes you are just too damn far from the bar and that makes driving there a necessity if you want to hang out there. And it is dark, even people who can see can't see. I got a buddy who can see in the dark. Sometimes I say "How the hell can you see that ?". It just comes natural to him. Me, after I go outside for a time it takes my eyes alot of time to readjust to indoor lighting. And this is not a new thing. So really, it is all in where you start from. The guy who hit that cop probably was a piece of shit driver to start with. Maybe even one of those people who cause road rage. If you want to do something about it, expand the pubic transportation system greatly and make the test for a driver's license alot harder. What else do you think would work ? I saw a wreck on Brookpark road a long time ago and had to laugh. I doubt anyone was seriously hurt. In a driveway of a parking lot of a store of some kind there were two lanes of cars lined up and they were waiting a long tie I guess. Then the two front cars decided to just go, and the others followed. Like four cars got hit by the oncoming traffic. Are they that stupid that if the car in front of them goes they go without looking ? That is something that should probably be on the driver's test. And no, there was no traffic signal. These days, people are so fucking stupid that if I had perfect vision, clean license and good insurance not to mention a nice car, I would not want to drive. The dude hit a cop and they might just crucify him for it. But as we now, in this country, most people who break laws think they are going to get away with it. And they got good reason, because so many do get away with it. Like shoplifting, inventory never comes up right. Even the employees do it. That is the mentality. T^T The article didn't say how he was caught up with the car.
