Doesn't Our President do ANYTHING Right? (Full Version)

Well Yes (IMHO) 1. Sanctions on North Korea (getting China and Russia to agree). Nikki Haley has actually preserved a tiny bit of U.S. dignity at the U.S. She started off as governor, caught up in the GOP rhetoric, (and saying a plethora of really stupid things), but later found her place, and has shown some leadership. The U.N. Ambassadorship is a great role for her. I'll give our president credit. 2. Markets at record high. (Yes continuing trend from Obama). The fact that our president is well....him (makes the markets soar) :) 3. Sessions (I am no fan of him), cracking down on Affirmative Action in Universities. Affirmative Action is racism by definition, and has no place in college admission policy. Diversity is a wonderful thing among qualified individuals. Forced diversity, based on inequitable policy helps no one, and hurts the very ethnicities it seeks to help. 4. The RAISE Act (while amateurishly and poorly written like everything else coming out of this administration) is conceptually the EXACT thing we need. A requirement for fluent English is incredibly stupid. However, a MERIT based immigration system is precisely what we need (refugees from violence excepted) I will give our president credit for all of the above, even though he most likely has ZERO understanding of any of this.

The requirement for English is nothing new in immigration law and to me is important. Nothing and I mean nothing separates people like the inability to communicate. I think it reasonable to require at least a rudimentary grasp of the English language. Multi- culture is not only fine but desired but if you cannot talk with your neighbors you will never truly become an American citizen. Butch

(But not as a requirement for entry)

There is a difference in immigration and political asylum... those desiring to immigrate should take the time to learn English And I feel should be a strict requirement... There are still procedures for political asylum in the new law and English ,I believe,is not required...but I will have to check on that to be sure. Butch

Simple - we keep them out of office. THEN the question becomes, how do we keep leftists from working feverishly to overturn or nullify presidential elections that they lose? Simple again - civil war. Simply disposing of Affirmative Action isn't going to help anyone. I don't think it's the right solution, but it is better than letting them fall into more crime and poverty,, which is what Sessions wants. Your argument is like saying that if you were in the middle of the ocean with no land in swimming distance, taking away your life preserver is better than letting you keep it.

Deferring comment on the rest, the market is not up, it's...only the DOW. Often, more stocks go down then up yet the DOW still goes up being only 30 out of 1,000's of companies. Furthermore, recently more stocks in the DOW itself went down then up and only because of 3 very heavily weighted blue chips went up...it showed the whole DOW index up. Take these new DOW highs with a huge grain of salt. They don't mean much except for investors in the DOW index and its futures, where the bet is on the whole index.

He has a raft of horrible appointments. I'm glad it's not across the board, but it's hardly a cause for celebration. The markets like the hope of deregulation. Again, Trump has nearly nothing to do with that, unable to pass even his major objectives. Congress axing Obama-era regulations is buoying the market -- until lax regulation leads to the next lawsuit or crisis.
