Can I request that the Germans/Australians/British/Canadians etc folks in here post stuffs about their own politicians more?

No point, they either die, or the fucking Yanks take it over and argue about Trump anyway.

We need a Trump role, kind of like Godwin rule.

Nice idea Greta but unfortunately my observation is that threads about countries outside of the US don't seem to last very long. For example Brexit is a major issue for Europeans but a Brexit thread didn't attract an awful lot of attention here.

It would be nice to see more threads initiated about politics in the rest of the world but I won't be holding my breath that they will last very long

The whole point is to fill the forum with meaningful or purposeful or a selection of topics. It's not about how long and continuous the thread will run. Because it's either filled with WD topics, OR everyone of you international folks fill it with information about what's going in your country's politics. I am sure some of us will start taking interest and reading more about it.

Brexit stopped because people are feeling in the UK that life goes on and it's not such a disaster after all.

The real impact haven't been felt yet.

Greta: you do realise that WD starts most of the threads about British politics in here, and his mantrums tend to be triggered by them getting ignored by all and sundry, right?

Which is why I am not against WD postings. It's nice to see Brits post about Brit politics.

Yet you forget that majority of forum users who post in R and D are in the US.

There has, in the past, been suggestions for an R and D section for world events, which fell on deaf ears...

There are as many Brits and Aussie and Europeans and many other Nationality on Collarspace.

If they start seeing topics relevant to their country, they may come in and attract newbies.

It's about having the content available for viewing first, before you attract more new international crowd.

I appreciate your interest in foreign politics but do not feel any urge to post threads on German topics here - in my observation those that happened over time were largely based on a lack of any background information since your local media are not interested in any ... not to forget the almost inevitable drift of any thread on Germany to all kinds of WWII stuff [sm=eeew.gif]

I have honestly never seen drift of german topics to WW2 stuffs on here. There is more than enough criticism on Merkel (for right wing people) to wanna revisit irrelevant old history of WW2.

Also, I disagree with you about the lack of background information.

Like the US, Germany has conservative and liberals who are opposite end spectrum in views.

I am friends with many Germans who work here in their 40's and 50's and they are very conservative and right wing like me.

They still got their wives and kids in Germany, so they often travel back and forth. I ask them why they don't bring their wife and kids here, and their reasoning always, they tried, but their wife don't like it here. And where the wife is, the kids needs to be since the wife is taking care of the kids.

Your view is just the liberal side of Germany as a younger generation. The older generation has been through Germany when it was still divided and what they share with me and how they feel about things, is very different from you.

But as you are the only resident German in here at the moment. And strangely collarchat added a german channel too.

So we will just have to make do with what a millennial in Germany thinks and her views.

For some strange reason for example, I have never met a German in Singapore who likes Merkel. They always telling me she is ruining Germany. But they are men, and older generation and more conservative.

DaddySatyr -> RE: May I suggest that: (8/9/2017 10:55:23 PM)

I have a deeply-held, personal and political belief that (with very few exceptions) it is none of my business what people in other sovereign nations do.

Obviously a nation like North Korea (right now) is a different story.

So, that said, since these forums are dominated by Americans, I think you'd find a plethora of apathy, by-and-large.

Pardon me - that's exactly the point: The German political spectrum is very unlike the US. But if you only use these two drawers where to sort everyone and everything in, everything looks the same, of course.

Most political parties here would probably appear far left of everything you 'll find in the US, except certain neofascist groups. The voting system is very different and favours a multi-party structure and coalition governments. The liberal FDP is struggling for survival and has been voted out of almost any state and the federal parliament but has gained some followers again lately. The conservative CDU/CSU could only be compared to a a combination of US Democrats and Republicans put together. Social Democrats, Green and Left have no equivalent in US politics.

Oh, he has, old Felchgobbler Gobbles, multiple times daily, in compounds and airport bathrooms across this great nation of ours, from his very low birth and life.

Either that or they'll be put off by seeing a small group of American trolls turning every thread about British politics into another excuse to whine and whine and whine about moslems not liking their country.

mnottertail -> RE: May I suggest that: (8/10/2017 9:35:44 AM)

Leave it to you to bring up moslems on an international political thread.............LOL.

Yeah, it could be about fuckin Hammurabi and early Mesopotamia politics, and it will turn US and moslems.

No we can't possibly forget it, you guys are like a bad smell, you permeate every thread, regardless of the topic, with your stupid bullshit. It wouldn't be so bad if you fuckers knew what you were talking about, but you don't even know what the words you use mean.

Too bad she couldn't live in old East Germany for a few years

THAT would fix her little red bandwagon real good

At least the talk about the vast moslem conspiracy to overthrow the western world was a bit more relevant to a discussion of Sadiq Khan being elected as London's mayor than fifteen pages of a retard throwing a tantrum about abortion being legal was.

I have personally voted for a Muslim in my country to be my MP and I am gonna vote for that Female Muslim President in my upcoming election, I support her. Despite my anti-Islam rhetoric. Because I can hate your religion, but if you prove to me that, you are able to put neutral no religious influence hat on, and able to admit the faults in your own religion and just own up to it, and be mature about it and not cry racism or whatever. Then I would think despite being Muslim, he is sane, and able to make fair judgements, no bias towards his own religion.

But seriously this Sadiq dude, is 100% bias towards Islam. He has shown zero criticism towards his own religion. And was always defensive, doing the typical Muslim thing, denying any Muslim responsibility in any terrorist attacks.

The Muslim MP I voted for would have address the Muslim community and said, "Brothers, please, we are Singapore here, we are not Afghanistan, we are not Saudi. Please practice the Islam that is suited to our culture here."

That is the huge difference. He acknowledged there is a problem stemming from Islam. No denial.
