ORIGINAL: bounty44 i understood your post, and its one that could have stimulated actual conversation, but after I read it, and before I looked at the responses, I knew exactly the responses youd get and wasn't disappointed in the least. more to come im sure... They seem awfully butthurt that they didn't get their massive killer storm to me its the global warming (err, climate change) equivalent of the Christian conservative terrorist they so desperately need. Again, you both are just making up stuff. What is it with you two? There are enough real debates in the world without having to make up your own. You've even invented an "opposition" position that no one holds -- except in your fantasy. --------------- As to the storm -- I've never been in a hurricane. I have been in 60 mph winds, and I can tell you, that will do the job. Not pleasant. We had 80 mph winds hit in a microburst a few years back -- like a giant took a machete to a stand of trees. So when a Cat 4 slows to 75 mph winds, that's a storm that would still get my attention. Likewise, we've had a lot of localized flooding the past few years. But flooding from the coast to 100 miles inward? No way I would minimize that. ----------------- We've been having tornadoes in NY -- many more than before. No idea if it has to do with global warming. Lot of factors go into things like that. But I can assure you, even in (relatively progressive NY, because bounty lives here too), no one is waiting for or wanting greater tornadoes, water spouts, or hurricanes. That's just fucked up even to suggest that. Likewise that anyone wants a Christian conservative terrorist. You have such a bizarre bunker mentality. You're fighting a war in your head that no one is fighting with you. Thoughts and prayers with Texas at this difficult time.
