This is about Trump being so tasteless, so obnoxious, so blatantly mentally ill... that everything needs to be about his ego.

He even went to Texas, dropped himself in the middle of a serious crisis... and fucking went on about crowd size while not mentioning victims of Harvey.

Let's keep in mind that this event was purposed as a Republican fund raising event. In that situation Trump had every right to be displeased with a small turnout. In fundraising when you lease a big venue and don't sell out, then the event is a failure. Trump had good reason to remove Gigicos as organizer if he can't sell out a fundraising event. That's true regardless of what else you think about Trump.Gigicos failed at his job and was fired, just like anyone else who doesn't perform in their employment.

Given that he appears to owe his creditors over a billion and has been eager to avoid revealing his tax details, his net worth probably isn't anything like what he claims.
(The television star thing seems a slight exaggeration as well: he's a c or d lister who used to be on a reality show. We're talking somebody who was voted off Big Brother three or four years ago, rather than a big enough name to be invited onto I'm A Celebrity..., put it that way. If he was a big enough name to get invited onto IACGMOH, he probably wouldn't have stood for the presidency...)

To be honest, I shudder at the thought of what their 'true' champion would do.
The fact that Trump is so incoherent, is only about himself, has zero political smarts and is only barely being tolerated by the political establishment is kind of a plus.

I picture their ideal candidate as a brutally militaristic, unapologetically authoritarian, racist, sexist theocrat who isn't a fucking moron and is even more charming than Reagan... charming enough to bring everyone onto the same page and unite the whole GOP circus-- tea party, Christian fascists and pro-corporation libertarians alike.

That would be a nightmare.

Well, right now they're all fighting with each other.

But that's not what I said. I'm not talking about the fascists and the nut jobs. I'm talking about the rest.

If they could do that, they'd be compelling and powerful.

But first, they'll have to examine their values and ask what they're willing to do.
