Real0ne -> You thought this was a democracy? 11 key facts about Police (9/2/2017 8:00:02 AM)

11 key facts about Americans’ attitudes toward the Police

There are stark racial and partisan divides in favorability toward police, but no group is anti-cop

54% say police using military equipment goes too far

84% of Americans oppose civil asset forfeiture.

79% support outside law enforcement agencies conducting investigations of police misconduct

89% of Americans support police body cameras

Only 30% say police should prioritize enforcing drug laws.

Nearly half (49%) of Americans say “most” police officers think they are “above the law.”

65% of Americans think police officers “commonly” racially profile Americans

61% say there is a “war on police” in America.

African Americans are nearly twice as likely as whites to report a police officer swearing at them.

60% say it’s more important to protect the innocent than punish the guilty.

Cato Institute

Seems this is about the police industry, not the people?

The illusion of democracy, it bites doesnt it

The libertarian think tank the Cato institute?
Yeah, that's nearly as reliable a source as the Mail or the Telegraph...

Real0ne -> RE: You thought this was a democracy? 11 key facts about Police (9/2/2017 9:29:54 AM)

carries far more weight than the whoremods asshelmet institute, as seen above

What does any of this have to do with 'the illusion of democracy'?

This is a public opinion poll, dealing with how the public perceives law enforcement, and as far as I can tell has absolutely nothing to do with policy.
I definitely don't see any looming government conspiracy to suppress dissent.

What I do see is evidence that people are realizing law enforcement tends to attract a lot of scumbags, racists and wannabe fascists who are dying to use violence against the easiest possible targets. But this isn't being sanctioned by government, it is merely something that has been tolerated by law enforcement, probably due to the nature of their job.

Even going through airport security now, you're bound to meet some snarky fascist douchebag who is just dying to put someone in jail based on how they look.

Go on then: let's have a few examples of the Cato Institute's reliability as predictors and analysts, rather than saying whatever the fuck the libertarian/feudalist neocon wing of the republicans wanted them to say as loudly as they possibly could.

Lucylastic -> RE: You thought this was a democracy? 11 key facts about Police (9/2/2017 11:08:13 AM)

PS Fox Poll says 56 % of americans think that Trump is tearing apart the country.....
must be fact (if your posit is true, and it aint))
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/08/30/fox-news-poll-voters-mood-sours-56-percent-say-trump-tearing-country-apart.html
The number of voters happy with how things are going in the country is down 10 percentage points since April and stands at just 35 percent. It hasn’t been that low since 2013. At the same time, dissatisfaction jumped to 64 percent -- an 11-point increase.

Have any of these people claimed any responsibility for the shitawful clusterfucks that freeing capitalism from the terrible oppression of government regulation so that it can better serve the population's best interests have caused over the last thirty years or so?
Or do they spend all their time in their tank thinking about ways to avoid being called on that sort of thing?

It's rather obvious don't you think ? The 'people' don't get what they want. It is those that have the most free speech in the bank and are very ready to 'speak' (pay for) who get what they want.

Ah so you are looking for another conspiracy in that? Did you find one? Got a theory for us?

So you think that this poll constitutes a nationwide referendum on the police that is simply being ignored by the people with power?
All of these people who voted in this poll weren't just casually participating in an anonymous survey, they were actually demanding changes that they aren't going to get because the government is trampling their rights?
The policymakers are even aware of this poll?

You are such a flake... like actively striving to inspire a generic conspiracy guy skit on some sketch comedy program.

you think a few hundred assholes on the hill constitutes a fucking democracy?

There you go put your own strawman conditins on the argument while people are in the street protesting since politicians arent aware of demands even when they are shoved square up there asses! The day after is SSDD.

jlf1961 -> RE: You thought this was a democracy? 11 key facts about Police (9/2/2017 11:38:25 AM)

First of all, the United States is not now, nor ever been a democracy, it is a republic.

The difference is that in a democracy every decision affecting the country as a whole would be voted on by all eligible voters, in a Republic, people are elected to vote the way their constituents want them to, which doesnt happen anyway.

LOL yes, I'm the one using a strawman, and I know for 100% sure I said that 'a few hundred assholes on the hill constitutes a fucking democracy'.
These are my exact words, my exact sentiment, meaning, everything... I mean, I definitely, undoubtedly argued this with a vengeance so it is most certainly NOT a strawman.

And exactly what protests are you referring to, o all-seeing red pilled champion of the people and Trump and Hitler?
Are the protests a direct result of the government ignoring the universally popular and highly specific demands that are obviously being put forward by this all-important poll?

God bless the United States of Paranoid Schizophrenia... they will always keep us unnervingly entertained.
