Contradicting Trump, DOJ Admits There Is No Evidence Of Trump Tower Wiretaps In a brief filed late on Friday, the Department of Justice confirmed that it has no evidence to support President Donald Trump’s assertions this spring that he was the target of surveillance by the Obama administration while running for office last year. The motion, filed in response to a lawsuit from the pro-transparency group American Oversight, notes that “both FBI and NSD confirm that they have no records related to wiretaps as described” by Trump. After Trump took to Twitter in early March to accuse the Obama administration of “wire tapping” his phones at Trump Tower, a charge that then-FBI Director James Comey assured Congress was baseless, American Oversight filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking records of any wiretaps of Trump Tower. The Trump administration at first asserted that it could neither confirm nor deny the existence of any wiretapping records. American Oversight challenged that response in court. “Given that the president publicly confirmed the wiretaps (in his March tweets) and former FBI Director Comey publicly denied their existence (in his testimony to Congress), we have argued that FBI and DOJ ought to be able to provide a straight answer about whether any wiretap records do or don’t exist,” the organization’s spokesperson Clark Pettig told TPM. On Friday, the DOJ released a motion acknowledging they have no evidence of any wiretaps. “The FBI and Department of Justice have now sided with former Director Comey and confirmed in writing that President Trump lied when he tweeted that former President Obama ‘wiretapped’ him at Trump Tower,” American Oversight’s Executive Director Austin Evers said in a statement. “As the president and his legal team continue their smear campaign against Mr. Comey, Special Counsel Mueller and others investigating him, this filing confirms that even Trump’s own Department of Justice does not believe he has credibility on a key element of the Russia investigation.” Read the full motion below: (go to link for 109 page motion) http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/trump-tower-wiretap-foia-doj Oh dear another claim debunked, he isnt doing so well is he?

I do wonder how long it will take him to do another distraction announcement. Hes sposed to be in texas today, I wonder if he will get his feet wet this time, and actually see the destruction firsthand, instead of a map. His transgender ban, His Arpaio pardon, his DACA waffling, oh theres so much for him to tweet about. But this one is gonna hurt him. Proves he lies(LOL)

Aliens, maybe? They've had that Sheriff who insists that they did too have captive aliens at the Weright patterson base trotting out and blathering in public again (I suspect Chris Carter paid him to do so as the X Files relaunch tankd because the target audience were all watching GOT instead...)

Ever since Trump said he had been wiretapped I was sure there would be no DOJ or any other governmental department link or evidence found. That's because I asked myself who I would use to wiretap Trump if I were in Obama's shoes. It sure wouldn't have been the DOJ or the FBI or any of the rest of the government agencies that have denied involvement. That's because I credit Obama with being smart enough to realize that any of those would have leaked eventually and as surely as Watergate, it would have all come out. Had I been Obama (or Hillary) and I wanted to wiretap the Trump tower I would have hired one of those private paramilitary security firms like Academi (the former Blackwater Group after a couple of name changes) who would have done the job without screwing it up, and without any leaks about it. For someone in Obama's position that would have been the only smart way to go, and he could well have afforded their services. So just because the DOJ could find no evidence that the job was done internally, that does NOT constitute any kind of proof that it didn't happen. Just that they didn't do it. We have a great many private security firms in this country capable of a wiretap who could have done the job, but the media never seem to consider that as a possibility, when logically it would be the way to go if that was your intent.

The only problem with using what amounts to mercenaries is that, well, they're mercenaries. They are loyal to whoever holds the checkbook. If someone comes along with a bigger checkbook, they are quite likely to change sides. our president holds a pretty damn big checkbook. I'm not discounting your theory at all but I think it is a very risky strategy. That said, it is definitely something to look into if it has not already been done.

Blackwater was all over Iraq and we as citizens never heard much about them until a few went a little crazy and shot up a bunch of women and children. Despite that incident, as Academi, they have a lot of current government contracts and they are nearly invisible. They are basically mercenaries, but they are very well equipped and pretty competent, and overall I would judge them to be way better at keeping a secret than any of the porous government agencies.
