Status: offline 		One Houston news executive is wondering why Donald Trump, during his second visit to the storm-devastated area, decided to bash the media while touring the damage.

Yesterday, while in Texas, Trump said “Think of it: almost 11,000 people ― by going into winds that the media would not go into. They will not go into those winds. Unless it’s a really good story, in which case they will.”

Not only is that statement strange to make while you are supposed to be comforting residents, but it's factually not true. We, at News & Guts, send high regards out to fellow reporters, anchors, producers, photographers and all news crew members who have indeed done unbelievable work during and after Hurricane Harvey. Many who left their own families to put themselves in harms way to bring people in Texas and beyond important information. We even saw reporters rescuing people themselves and others who alerted rescue crews of people that were in danger.

In response to Trump's jab at the media, the managing editor at KHOU in Houston, Bill Bishop tweeted, "I've had with the insults. Let's see him stand in E. coli water reporting for hours like the media does."

We now hope Trump will shift his focus to good reporting like this.

The AP is reporting that the EPA says it can't reach superfund sites. But who did reach some of those sites? Associated Press reporters. Yes, the media.

Status: offline 		thats weird, I spent days watching exaactly who reporting, first hand on the misery of harvey? from how many journalists, news media, reporters, ...not to mention the teams behind the scenes, they werre all on a green screen in a warm studio?
The coast guard(bless their cotton socks) were doing their jobs, fire fighters, emts, nurses, doctors, police, the "legal" rescuers, did and are doing an amazing job, most of it caught on camera by the media. who were doing their jobs. Hundred of people from the cajun navy and other people in the area helped out where they could.
How typical that the orange abscess had to complain about the media, who were there to show him pretending he was enjoying himself being the "warm fuzzy prez" and whining like a toddler.

That's the whole issue el presidente has with the media in a nutshell: he's lying about them because he resents their telling the truth about him.

Status: offline 		I don't feel compelled to often post here, but I have to say that the media and reporters have been out here since before Harvey landfall. Some are hometown media, and others came to be where the action was. There are even some reporters who have been able to actively make a difference during the floods: Youtu.be/0hf8S9TrvWQ

Hats of to all the reporters, journalists and volunteers who came to tell our stories and to help without hesitation or excuses.

Much like this site, it is getting easier to see who is walking the walk vs just talking the talk.
