Except Hillary actually, and it's verified and legit that, she carelessly allowed her emails to leak by not following proper security protocol. That wasn't in question. It was confirmed that, that's what happened. She admits it.

Fortunately for her, nothing too classified got leaked. So all is good.

Trump's Russian connection is all speculation, but no solid findings.

For months, when anyone used a cartoon to illustrate any of Trump's many shortcomings you used your derisive attack about "leftists living in a cartoon world".

Now . . . what have we here? Oh yeah, pot and kettle.

(snipped for clarification)
Until the FBI actually finds Trump guilty of something, he's innocent. Just because it doesn't look good (and the optics aren't very good) doesn't mean it is bad.

Same goes for Hillary ? Or Obama....surely? I wish the hillary haters on the right could get that.

Same goes for Hillary. What's Obama being accused of? I'm still shocked nothing came of the Hillary investigations.

Plus the fact that reps are trying to limit the time and scale of the mueller investigation is hinkey

If nothing else, it's hypocritical, considering the Hillary investigations.

Do you know how to negotiate? The Donald does. Is he the best at it? I'm going to go ahead and say, "probably not." But, he does know how to negotiate. Does business negotiating translate perfectly to political negotiating? I'm going to say, "no."

He has started this negotiation by claiming that he is willing to destroy the entire global economy without even realizing that that is what he is proposing to do.

Bullshit. His position will not "destroy the entire global economy." Nice hyperbole there.

$1.6 trillion worth of imports and exports flushed down the toilet wouldn't be a disaster?
You didn't actually explain yourself, so I guess I have to ask-- how could you possibly believe this?

Also, why are people who actually DO know what they're talking about so very wrong?

He will never succeed.
The people around him could succeed in some areas, but it seems unlikely as long as he is front and center... and the GOP itself is actually pretty divided.

I honestly have no idea how you keep holding onto your optimism. There might have been a brief moment before he took office when it was possible to believe he wasn't going to be a disaster, but that moment has passed.

You are right when you say he will never be able to do any of the things he has promised to do, but the fact is he has inherited a great situation and it is only a matter of time before things go wrong-- and he won't be equipped to deal with it.

Nice goal post move there. You've gone from destroying "the entire global economy" to an economic "disaster."

Would it suck. Considering the 107 countries (or 80, or 60, or however many it actually is) that do business with North Korea, what do our imports/exports look like? The BI link also mentioned that nobody really believes Trump's comments were serious, considering the economic impact. The BI link mentioned $1.6T in trade and $520B in exports. I don't know if that $1.6T is just imports, or if it's $1.08T in imports with the $520B in exports. That wasn't clear. Either way, it would help our import/export balance, no?

How many people have pissed and moaned about the negative trade balance in the US?
How many people have pissed and moaned about cheap Chinese/imported 'stuff' that reduces the purchases of higher quality American-made 'stuff?' If we stopped importing a large portion of that 'stuff' (China is the country we import the most from, $483B, linked in the BI article), wouldn't that help cut off the "cheap imported crap" and, perhaps, bring back American manufacturing jobs?

I haven't read all the posts after this one, but I'm almost surprised no one has accused Trump of being a racist because they think (rightly or not) that minorities would be impacted more from ending the importation of "cheap imported crap" than whites. [8|]

Trump isn't really a Republican. He's an Independent, really. His beliefs don't really put him in either of the two major parties, as he certainly believes in planks of both parties. I said it last year around convention time that the GOP should not give him the nomination because he isn't a Republican. If Trump's Presidency fractures and destroys the GOP as it currently is, then they brought that shit on themselves. Hell, the 2016 election could be a watershed moment where both parties end up halving, giving us 4 major parties.

He was chosen by majorities in enough states to win the Presidency. That, alone, shows there enough people that wanted something different from government than what Hillary was offering (which wasn't much different from what we had under President Obama). You're "great situation" analysis is purely subjective. I could just as easily say it wasn't a great situation, and then what would we have? Two opinions. Nothing more.

I'm an optimist. I have no qualms about that. I was concerned that an Obama Presidency would be an unmitigated disaster, but I still held out hope that he wouldn't be absolutely horrible. I thought he wasn't a good President (or, at least, the legislation passed during his Administration that he supported was not good for the US), but he wasn't absolutely horrible. He has a little over 3 years to demonstrate he's not the worst President of all time. At least allow him that chance.

Oh come on...you seriously thought i meant render the global economy extinct? How would it even be possible to literally permanently destroy an economy? Forbid all currency and exchanges of goods? I really didn't expect to have to make such a distinction.

1.6 trilion gone would not be positive in any way. The holes could not be filled... at all. Salaries would have to drop, prices would skyrocket, quality would suffer, basic materials would not be obtained, America's reputation would be ruined, investors would panic. Trump's retarded tariff plan was bad enough... this is worse. You seem to have convinced yourself that America is so awesome it doesn't need the outside world.

Given his rightwing bias, I'd imagine he sees the Scandibnavian countries with 80%+ employment, high tax rates and bomb-proof economies as being "socialist" as well. Noway, for instance, is clearly a third world country that's been bankrupted by living above its means...
