Hillwilliam -> A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 8:56:06 AM)

One of our leaders making a compassionate plea for the 'Dreamers'.

Lucylastic -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 9:03:11 AM)

well he has given himself an out...after all
LOL

BeautifulNotion -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 9:07:49 AM)

I heard he gets his sustenance from the dreamers. He builds their hopes up, with promises of wonderful times, and then he crushes them, and then feasts on the atoms of hope. Does that make him an orange bellied leech or an ugly parasite and bit of a lying toolbag?

BeautifulNotion -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 9:10:35 AM)

What the heck does that tweet mean. Is he in or out or generally just a fucking clueless gimp?

Lucylastic -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 9:11:54 AM)

with his tweet tho, it simply means that if Congress doesn't act then Trump will act illegally " just like Obama".

I do think he is conflicted by it, from his history, as Hill pointed out.

But its not good for him to say, "we love the dreamers, we love everyone", who the hell believes it.
Wonder what non white group next is on his ban list.
He is so invested in white nationalism that its not gonna end with dreamers

BeautifulNotion -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 9:24:32 AM)

I thought he withdrew. I started a thread on that somewhere, I think. So, he is maybe in or maybe out, but will let congress decide on what exactly. Bugger it I just don't understand, but I am sure him and his white supremacy ideology mean well.

ThatDizzyChick -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 11:08:20 AM)

Seems to me that since the main objection to the program was that the President did not have the constitutional authority to implement it, that this approach is a sensible one, give Congress a shot at making it official by passing legislation to that effect.

BeautifulNotion -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 12:02:44 PM)

I think the unconstitutional argument came later? And I really cannot make head or tail of that tweet.

servantforuse -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 12:46:09 PM)

President Trump took an oath to uphold the constitution of the United States. That is what he did.

However, Reagan, Bush I and Obama did the same thing and also because...congress didn't act.

The real truth is, congress (mostly the right but not entirely) sees nothing in immigration reform for them. There no lobbyist or big association money on the table. In immigration reform, there is no advantage or money in it, only heartburn. This is as we are reminded by ourselves and our western diaspora, America, so there's got to be a way to make some money here

In fact when it comes to who this Trump act might hurt, they (immigrant labor exploiters) now need to start throwing some money, pardon me, more free speech - around on cap hill.

How much you wanna bet that if there a big 'omnibus' [sic] reform bill, it will contain temporary worker visas. This allows for potentially millions more that will stay and require what ? Yet more immigration 'reform.'

Oh and for the naysayers and on this OP ? In capitalism and in politics, there is no compassion or anything like it. There are only two things...money and votes.

We could do this on a rotating basis...allow immigrants in for 20 years, then kick most out for 5, then in for 20 more and out again...just repeat and for what ? Make some fucking money off those 'grunts.'

BeautifulNotion -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 1:03:16 PM)

And yet he has upheld the constitution by lying over One thousand Times since he took office! Seems to me he is just wiping his ugly arse with the Constitution ánd shoving his toilet paper down the throat of anyone who will gobble it up whilst they scream for seconds. Or do you see it another way?

Except that DACA is not unconstitutional. Obama used the power granted to him by Congress to enact it, and previous lawsuits attempting to argue that DACA is unconstitutional...have been dismissed.

Reagan and Bush I wrote very similar EXo's on immigration and nobody on the right said they were unconstitutional.

The problem is that our president wouldn't know the Constitution from the National Enquirer.

Assuming President Obama's EO wasn't unconstitutional, Trump can still erase it because... well, he doesn't even need a reason to erase it. He can do it because he has the power and authority. Anything President Obama dictated by EO can be undone by an EO by Trump. Period. Full Stop.

One and the same action cause for celebration or for whimpering.

Whimperers gotta whimper.

he might notice his mug on the Enquirer....next to the wedding announcement of bat boy......

servantforuse -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 8:29:51 PM)

Thank You. Congress makes the laws, not the president. Obama over stepped his authority. Trump put it back to congress where it should be.

Edwird -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 8:43:27 PM)

He didn't put it back to the Congress, he just did the same thing.

Get a clue.

Edwird -> RE: A compassionate leader (9/6/2017 8:58:27 PM)

In any case, the Spanish kicked out the Moors and the country went to shite.

Not that Trump or his followers would have any notion.

The Chinese went isolationist in 1485, and look where that got them. What a waste.

Not that Trump or his followers would have any notion.

If you want regression and de-evolution, we've got the man.

You know, I had a year of geology, and even before the big meteor hit, we haven't found evidence that the big dinosaurs were making effort to take themselves back to lizards and sea creatures.

But that is absolutely what is happening right now, and it's not just the US. But why the fuck is the allegedly 'greatest nation' leading the way to that end?
