https://sg.style.yahoo.com/pregnant-mom-refused-service-restaurant-wearing-crop-top-144642163.html

In this case, I don't think the restaurant should apologise and instead update their policy to say, "No Shoes, No full length shirt, No Service Policy". And simply apologise to her that they didn't make their terms and conditions clearer.

But then this woman will probably come back bottomless too.

That outfit is seriously, I mean, also, putting the word "weirdo" on top of your belly to me is like labeling your unborn child a Weirdo!

I can relate to the aggravation of being that big in august(september), you dont want anything touching you, hell I like to have nothing on at all. I felt restricted in anything
BUT, for me, yes, tasteless for eating out. but Ive seen much worse, male and female, young and old. And its not something that I feel is worth whinging about, Pregnant women get hit from all sides, I think its beautiful, and nothing to be ashamed of...Been there, remember the feel of it.
I agree with you about the restaurants response.
But the fact its "viral" is sad.

Ps what does this have to do with P&R?

P&R also is about current affairs and social issues.
This woman used the excuse that she felt body shamed.
But seriously, in this case, there was no body shaming. Her "half shirt", was not just a proper shirt for a restaurant. If a man walks in like that in a half shirt, showing off his belly, probably would have been told to leave as well.

I guess it gotta be a trend over there to be a proud mama and show off your baby bump.

I hope that fashion statement never reaches here. Like a Bikini, time and place for it.

Made2Obey -> RE: No shoes, No shirt, No Service Policy and a Pregnant woman wears this? (9/7/2017 1:51:37 AM)

With appreciation for the fact that the woman was pregnant, when I am out eating in a public place I don't want to see anyone's bare belly. This is simply her being inconsiderate of the many more other customers in the place, apparently with some kind of misguided concept that her pregnancy gives her some special privilege over all others, and then her going off the rails when she was called on it.

ThatDizzyChick -> RE: No shoes, No shirt, No Service Policy and a Pregnant woman wears this? (9/7/2017 5:08:41 AM)

It's her right to dress that way, and it is their right to refuse to serve her for dressing that way.

servantforuse -> RE: No shoes, No shirt, No Service Policy and a Pregnant woman wears this? (9/7/2017 5:30:16 AM)

In this case I think the restaurant did the right thing. She should show some respect for others. Never know, she might get some in return.

Edwird -> RE: No shoes, No shirt, No Service Policy and a Pregnant woman wears this? (9/7/2017 8:33:11 AM)

Just to slip into "no shoes" part of it . . .

When I was just turned 17, I hitch-hiked from N Carolina to California and back with never putting on shoes. A three week episode. In fact I went the whole summer with out ever wearing even sandals. Nothing on the feet, at all.

Aside from saving up $1,200 so I didn't have to work all summer, I still can't figure out how I did that.

Edwird -> RE: No shoes, No shirt, No Service Policy and a Pregnant woman wears this? (9/7/2017 8:51:05 AM)

So now what happens if I walk barefoot in public is that everybody immediately freaks out. "What happened to your sandals?!" The police pull up alongside and say "are you alright?" etc.

Wow.

It's a different and much more easily freaked-out world today, no question.

I've learned to do the barefoot thing after 10:00 PM, or from 5:00-6:30 AM, at latest.

Not speaking to this one thing, but I'm not seeing the world as going in the best direction, at the moment.

All fidgety and everything.

Edwird -> RE: No shoes, No shirt, No Service Policy and a Pregnant woman wears this? (9/7/2017 9:23:10 AM)

All fidgety and flighty and easily spooked. Maybe this is why the police keep shooting everybody.

I came out of a friend's apartment and walked easily to the entrance/exit gate. This ~20 yr. old was talking on her phone, didn't see me as I unlatched the gate.

AGHHH! AGGGH!

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" (I was wearing shoes, so it wasn't that).
After about ten "OMG!""OMG!"s she calmed down.

"I'm so sorry I freaked out, I'm so sorry!" "OMG!" "I'm so sorry!"

I was trying to figure out if she needed to go to the excellent hospital of her university or not.

My nephews and nieces like me, and little kids wave at me, so I don't think it was my face.

So who the fuck did all this and made fear as standard and fundamental and ruined what was a beforehand good thing?

Wow, that's impressive. I'd love to do that.

As for the pregnant woman. Something just feels wrong about this. I thought I was the ugliest elephant on this earth during my pregnancies but when I see other pregnant women, I always think they look beautiful. Pregnancy is so feminine but what she did seems anything but feminine. It was just a pregnant female trying to bring attention to herself and I wouldn't have been over-enthused to sit in eyes view of her in a restaurant.

That was long ago. With out bothering to look it up, that's probably at least $3,000-5,000 nowadays. But I worked for it. Min wage was $1.35, I'm embarrassed to say, and I was of such mind that quitting my paper route was the end of my ties to the rest of the world. I blew five years of adolescent labor (which I saved every penny of to that point) on one venture, without a second thought.

But you can bet that we would have had a good time kicking sand at each other in the Northern Nevada night desert, because it's so cold at night in the desert, and we have to keep warm.

I met a guy who claimed he never wore shoes even on a plane flight, but that was before 9/11. Forget that now.

I have found a few places to walk where I don't have to worry about others in the daytime.

If you want to be in touch with the earth, it can only be done by bare feet to ground, all the 'ouches!' and 'ooches!' notwithstanding.

I'm not going to argue that the world has gone to crap because we can't hitch-hike anymore. I just caught the tail end of that.

But in the summer time, "don't make me put on them blue suede shoes."

Believe it, we would have had a great time as kids, especially if you lived in Eastern NC at the time.

Venus fly traps were known only in that small sector of the world, at the time. We use to put twigs in them and watch the trap shut.

You know you would have loved it.

I used to try to keep Venus Fly Trap as pet plants and kept trying to feed them bugs. They were hard to keep alive though. I think they didn't like all the bugs I kept putting into their mouth.

Actually, I think the restaurant blew it.

Unless the restaurant has a track record of refusing service to all women wearing crop tops/belly shirts (what's the in vogue term now?) they singled this woman out because of the size of her belly.

In what way did you find her shirt disrespectful?

Considering that I have seen women in crop tops/belly shirts in places like olive garden that were cropped so short that the woman could be almost be considered topless, I have some questions about the restaurant.

And it would make her case if she had proof that women were being allowed into the establishment wearing the same type shirt that were not pregnant.

As for Greta's opinion, choke it up to the fact she is a five star idiot.

Of course there are some people who seem to think that a pregnant woman should not be allowed in public unless covered with 30 layers of burlap.

If I managed a restaurant again; I wouldn't want customers that dressed like a candidate for the "People of Wal Mart" website. Is it legal to deny service for being "tacky"?

Putting the word Weirdo above a pregnant belly is rather like insulting her own child. Which gives me the impression she might be an verbally abusive mother in the future.

Telling the world her child is a weirdo before the child was even born. That offends me.

No it's not idiotic. And fashion is fashion.

Pregnant or not Pregnant, we dress to fit our body shape. If a woman was apple shape, pregnant or not, a mid riff top will never look good on her. She can wear it, but just don't expect people to appreciate it on her body. Because it doesn't suit her body type.

I was thinking about the most popular plus size model today, and I notice the type of lingerie she often wears. A very specific type of underwear that is very full bottom and high waisted. There is a reason for this. Even though it is about appreciating a full sized body. But they still don't put her on the skimpier underwear skinny models wear on the runway because it wouldn't compliment her body.

For example, if they let her wear low waist, it may make her belly look like it's protruding. So the high waist make her waist look slimmer. It's their job to make a fuller body look hot, so the type of clothings make the difference.

A pregnant woman can look hot too if she dress appropriately for her body shape. She can look sexy and hot.

Oh FFS, hyperbole much?

You are offended by the actions of some random woman in another part of the world, who you have never met, and never will. To boot, her actions have nothing to do with you in any shape, form, or fashion.

You are a snowflake.

This is strictly your opinion. Not everyone dresses with the same idea in mind as you do.

I love how pointing out potential child abuse is considered a "snowflake". If you are a mother who thinks it's okay to label your child a weirdo. Good on you. I think you were on the camp on defending it being okay to stamp kid's on their hand and humiliating and shaming them for being poor and having no money to pay for lunch. So no wonder.

Really, in what universe would the recommended most complimentary attire for a woman with apple shaped figure is to walk around and bare her belly? I'd love to know where in the world is this the most flattering and attractive way to feature that body shape?
