cloudboy -> Battlestar Gallactica (7/28/2006 1:23:05 PM)

My Mistress is a Sci-Fi fan, and so she wanted me to watch Battlestar G. I'm curious if anyone else out there thinks the relationship between Number Six and Gaius Baltar is BDSMY or more akin to just straight possessive, inescapable jealousy.

Gaius' inablility to escape #6, his dependence on her, his raw attraction to her, his vulnerability before her, and her superior controling position over him as well as her ability to blackmail him all have elements of a M/S relationship, albeit with not too much "traditional" kink involved.

Any thoughts or observations?

This dialogue from Bladerunner seems rather transferrable to some of the cylons:

Deckard: She doesn't know.
Tyrell: She's beginning to suspect, I think.
Deckard: Suspect? How can it not know what it is?

-----

BTW: Harrison Ford driving off with Racheal is one of the sexiest scenes in all of movies.

The dialouge between them just steams as well:

Rachael: I wanted to see you, so I waited. Let me help.
Deckard: What do I need help for?
Rachael: I don't know why he [Tyrell] told you what he did.
Deckard: Talk to him.
Rachael: He wouldn't see me. (Deckard shuts his apartment door on her. He changes his mind and lets her in.)
Deckard: You want a drink? No?
Rachael: You think I'm a replicant, don't you?

---------

Rachael: What if I go north? Disappear. Would you come after me? Hunt me?
Deckard: No. No, I wouldn't. I owe you one. But somebody would.***
Rachael: Deckard? You know those files on me? The incept date, the longevity, those things. You saw them?
Deckard: They're classified.
Rachael: But you're a policeman.
Deckard: I didn't look at 'em.
Rachael: You know that Voight-Kampff test of yours? Did you ever take that test yourself? (Deckard falls asleep on the couch.) Deckard?

----

Deckard: I dreamt music. [His own memories of musical tunes may be implants.]
Rachael: (doubtfully) I didn't know if I could play. I remember lessons. I don't know if it's me or Tyrell's niece.
Deckard: (complimenting) You play beautifully.

----

Deckard: Now you kiss me.
Rachael: I can't rely on...
Deckard: Say 'kiss me.'
Rachael: 'Kiss me.' (They kiss passionately.)
Deckard: 'I want you.'
Rachael: 'I want you.'
Deckard: Again.
Rachael: 'I want you.' Put your hands on me. (They kiss again.)

----

Deckard: Do you love me?
Rachael: I love you.
Deckard: Do you trust me?
Rachael: I trust you. (He kisses her again.)

Since she exists in his mind only (remember she was nuked in the beginning) I think he is more psychotic or delusional or something along those lines.   But I can see where you come from.

MrDiscipline44 -> RE: Battlestar Gallactica (7/28/2006 2:06:33 PM)

Actually, if you follow the story, their minds get downloaded into a new body after they die. Thats why the attacks they made came in such waves and were really kind of reckless. The would keep learning from their last death. So the one that was nuked is actually still "alive". In fact I think she was being plagued with visions of him.

KenDckey -> RE: Battlestar Gallactica (7/28/2006 2:08:35 PM)

I agree they get downloaded but I don't think the download has been with him during his delusional period.   Have you seen the original series?  They ocassionally show it on the Sci-Fi Channel

MrDiscipline44 -> RE: Battlestar Gallactica (7/28/2006 2:16:11 PM)

I remember watching it as a kid back in the day but I don't remember them all and they never show them on a Saturday or Sunday. Only during the week here and always when I can't get away from work.

I don't think the download was with him either. I think you're right, he was/is delusional and/or psyco. I think it was interesting that she started having delusions too though.

KenDckey -> RE: Battlestar Gallactica (7/28/2006 2:44:27 PM)

Yeah.   Like there is a problem with her programming.   Wonder if she caught a bug?   LOL

KenDckey -> RE: Battlestar Gallactica (7/28/2006 3:19:33 PM)

LOL   I also like Star Wars and all the Star Treks.  Hmmm   OK   I admit it  I am a sci-fi junkie.    But I am also jealous of 7 of 9's son

I'm not touching that!! I am not going to touch it!!

Yeah, I'm abit of a sci-fi nut too. The new Doctor Who was looking good. But I think they switched out Doctors too soon. I'm also liking the Stargates series'.

KenDckey -> RE: Battlestar Gallactica (7/28/2006 3:24:29 PM)

I haven't watched the Dr Who series.   And I am usually at my gf's house when stargate comes on.   OMG  Selma Hyack is stripping.     I am in love.    (Dogma is on)
